También cuenta con el testimonio de intelectuales del siglo XX que tuvieron experiencias con dicha sustancia, tales como Ernst Jünger, Timothy Leary o Aldous Huxley. Más de siete décadas después del primer viaje de Albert Hofmann, el LSD sigue despertando curiosidad y temor a partes iguales. Un libro imprescindible para conocer los orígenes de esta sustancia y sumergirnos en la historia del siglo XX. Este audiolibro está narrado en castellano.Albert Hofmann fue un químico suizo, mundialmente conocido por ser el descubridor del LSD. Se graduó en la Universidad de Zurich en 1927 y realizó su tesis doctoral sobre la quinina, convirtiéndose en la primera persona en describir por primera vez su estructura molecular. Como trabajador de la empresa farmacéutica Sandoz realizó investigaciones sobre los alcaloides del cornezuelo del centeno y fue durante este proceso cuando accidentalmente descubrió el LSD. Este hallazgo accidental se convirtió en el pilar de una generación entera. Hofmann defendió la utilidad de esta droga alucinógena para el análisis del funcionamiento de la mente o del psicoanálisis y, aunque contó con el beneplácito y la curiosidad de colegas y figuras intelectuales, este argumento fue recibido con reticencia por la mayoría de las autoridades e instituciones. Hofmann formó parte del comité del Premio Nobel y fue elegido por la revista Time como una de los personajes más destacados del siglo XX. En 2008, a la edad de 102 años, falleció en Basilea, Suiza.
