This authoritative collection presents an overview of the widespread significance of Schumpeter's thought. Part I examines the reception accorded to Schumpeter's ideas by his contemporaries. In Part II the impact of his scientific ideas from the 1950s to the 1970s is investigated. Part III covers the renewed influence of Schumpeter's thought in the 1980s. Der gesamte Lehrstoff wird durch Graphiken und Zahlenbeispiele ergänzt und enthält zudem zahlreiche aktuelle Bezüge, um wichtige Zusammenhänge hervorzuheben. Der geplante Band Volkswirtschaftslehre 2 vertieft zentrale Themen der Mikro- und Makroökonomie und erweitert diese um neue Fragestellungen.

Dieses Buch führt mikroökonomisch fundiert in die Produktivitäts- und Effizienzanalyse ein und zeigt, wie man auch ohne apriori Kenntnis der Produktionsfunktion zu Aussagen über die produktive Effizienz kommen kann. Darauf aufbauend wird der Ansatz der nichtparametrischen Frontierfunktionsanalyse vorgestellt und über verschiedene Schritte erweitert. Diese Schritte umfassen die Analyse verschiedener Formen variabler Skalenerträge und die Ermittlung der produktivsten Unternehmensgröße. Mit dem Einbezug von Preisinformationen kann die allokative Ineffizienz, die aus Fehlanpassung an die Faktorpreise resultiert, zusätzlich zur technischen Ineffizienz berechnet werden. The twelve papers in this collection grew out of the workshop on "Eco­ nomic Evolution, Learning, and Complexity" held at the University of Augsburg, Augsburg, Germany on May 23-25, 1997. The Augsburg workshop was the second of two events in the Euroconference Series on Evolutionary Economics, the first of which was held in Athens, Greece in September 1993. A special issue of the Journal of Evolutionary Econo­ mics (1993(4)) edited by Yannis Katsoulacos on "Evolutionary and Neo­ classical Perspectives on Market Structure and Economic Growth" con­ tains selected papers from the Athens conference. The Athens conference explored neoclassical and evolutionary perspectives on technological competition and increasing returns. It helped to identify the dis­ tinguishing features of evolutionary scholarship. The Augsburg workshop was more oriented toward exploring methodological issues in evolutiona­ of the papers employed new me­ ry and related scholarship. A number thods, such as genetic programming and experimental analysis, some developed new econometric techniques or raised new empirical issues in evolutionary economics, and some relied on simulation techniques. Twelve papers covering a range of areas were selected for this collection. The papers address central issues in evolutionary and Schumpeterian accounts of industrial competition, learning, and innovation.

Der Aufbau des Buches folgt den traditionellen, großen Teildisziplinen - Makroökonomie und Mikroökonomie - denen ein Teil vorangestelltt ist, in dem sich der Leser zunächst mit grundlegenden Konzepten und Begriffen der Volkswirtschaftslehre vertraut machen kann. Der makroökonomische Teil greift zur Darstellung der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Zusammenhänge auf das moderne Instriumentarium der aggregierten Angebots- und Nachfragekurve zurück und nimmt auch neue Entwicklungen auf, etwa auf dem Gebiet der Phillips-Kurve. Im mikroökonomischen Teil wird besonders auf die ökonoischen Inhalte des ansonsten vergleichsweise abstrakten Stoffes und auf deren graphische Veranschaulichung Wert gelegt, ohne auf die analytische Stringenz zu verzichten. Dies soll vor allem den Zugang zu anschließenden Spezialvorlesungen erleichtern. Der gesamte Lehrstoff wird durch zahlreiche Graphiken und Zahlenbeispiele, die teilweise auch der Praxis entnommen sind, sowie durch ausführlich Querverweise ergänzt. Sie sollen die Lektüre erleichtern und Zusammenhänge hervorheben helfen.
