Parameter estimation is the process of using observations from a system to develop mathematical models that adequately represent the system dynamics. The assumed model consists of a finite set of parameters, the values of which are calculated using estimation techniques. Most of the techniques that exist are based on least-square minimisation of error between the model response and actual system response. However, with the proliferation of highspeed digital computers, elegant and innovative techniques like filter error method, genetic algorithms and artificial neural networks are finding more and more use in parameter estimation problems. Modelling and Parameter Estimation of Dynamic Systems presents a detailed examination of many estimation techniques and modelling problems.

This edited collection outlines the accomplishments, shortcomings, and future policy prospects of the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, arguing that the Convention is not broad enough to confront the challenges concerning human rights, sustainability, and cultural diversity as a whole.

Travel Knowledge examines European travel writing from 1500-1800, with an emphasis on travel to the East Indies, Africa, and the Levant. The importance of travel literature has grown in the humanities as scholars plumb such texts for their insights on colonialism, the other, and the nation, but this is one of the first volumes on European travel in the early modern period. The essays further distinguish themselves by focusing not on the European discovery of the Americas, but on voyages to the east, and by allowing the voices of marginalized travelers to speak through history. This collection includes both critical essays and the primary texts to which they refer, a unique pairing. Travel Knowledge is essential reading in history, literature, and ethnography.

Invasive alien species are a major threat to biodiversity and ecosystems throughout the world. In India, a country with four of the world's most important 'biodiversity hotspots', the invasion of alien plants means risking a national ecological disaster with major social and economic consequences. Currently, there is insufficient information about invasive alien plants; their distribution, rate of spread and adaptability to new environments. This book reveals existing and potential invaders, evaluates the level of risk they pose to native species and suggests steps to manage spread and limit damage. Invaluable to policy-makers, this book is also required reading for researchers of invasive plants worldwide.

Books on Gandhi and Vinoba abound. But hardly any one of them offers a comprehensive discussion of Gandhi and Vinoba. A significant attempt has been made in this book to bring about a comparison between Gandhi and Vinoba. Vinoba most legitimately and appropriately claims to follow not Gandhi the man, but Gandhi the IDEA. To-day almost everyone in India concedes that Vinoba is the nearest and truest follower of Gandhi. The author discusses about the life and works of Gandhi and Vinoba in the first chapter, Philosophical thought of Gandhi and Vinoba in the second chapter, Ethical thought of Gandhi and Vinoba in the third chapter, Social thought of Gandhi and Vinoba in the fourth chapter, Economic thought of Gandhi and Vinoba in the fifth chapter, Political thought of Gandhi and Vinoba in the sixth chapter, and Educational thought of Gandhi and Vinoba in the last chapter. This book will prove useful not only for all students of Gandhian Thought, Philosophy, Political Science, Social Work, Economics, Education and Sociology but also for the general readers.
