spinting on quicksand
Book of poetry covering biographical material, poems reflecting on art, social justice and the environment.
"This is an epic journey. From rural Australia, to the volcanoes of Mexico, to following Basho''s footsteps in Japan, Buswell leads us gently and firmly, never shying away from sharing life''s hard and painful truths. Along the way we meet some famous and not so famous characters - poets, potters, railway workers, the young Somalian would-be Olympian, Samia Yusuf Omar, and plenty of animals." Thirteen Australian women have composed an atypical collection of travel writings which cover a period of more than 50 years. Some visited Mexico several times for work and/or pleasure; some visited by chance and chose to remain; some returned to stay after a long absence, pulled back by something Mexican which they certainly feel strongly. Not all their experiences are pleasant, but the outcome is almost inevitably life affirming. Discover a different Mexico through the words - reminiscences, letters and poems - and images of these Australian women.
