Internalism and the Limits of Twin Earth Scenarios: A Study of Phenomenal Intentionalism explores visual perceptual experiences and whether nor not visual intentional content is internal or external. Coming from the standpoint of phenomenal intentionalism, this book assumes that phenomenal consciousness is internal to the subject of a perceptual experience. Jan Almäng argues that the structure of the phenomenal character of visual experiences sets certain limits with respect to whether Twin Earth thought experiments can be successful, suggesting that while Twin Earth thought experiments are successful for entities such as colours, they fail with respect to more complex geometrical structures. Because visual perceptual experiences represent in an analogue manner, this prevents certain kinds of Twin Earth scenarios from being successful. Almäng then argues that some phenomenal intentional content is internal. If visual experiences have a perspectival structure, that this by necessity means that they are intentional.

In the last decades, Ingvar Johansson has made a formidable contribution to the development of philosophy in general and perhaps especially to the development of metaphysics. This volume consists of original papers written by 50 philosophers from all over the world in honour of Ingvar Johansson to celebrate his 70th birthday. The papers cover traditional issues in metaphysics and the philosophy of mind, applied ethics and applied metaphysics, the nature of human rights, the philosophy of economics and sports. Some of the papers study the philosophy of Ingvar Johansson. All of them studies subjects which he has shown an interest in. The variety of subjects covered, testifies to the extraordinary wide range of issues his thought has had a bearing on.

Ivar Segelberg (19141987), between 1951 and 1979 professor of philosophy in Gothenburg, is an important figure in Swedish philosophy but still only known within a rather narrow circle. Trained in both phenomenology and analytical philosophy, Segelberg developed highly original theories about time consciousness, the unity of consciousness, and general ontology. He published his three main works in Swedish, and only in 1999 were they (collectively) made available in English. The present volume will hopefully help make Segelbergs work more widely known. It is partly based on a 2008 symposium in Gothenburg, also called Philosophy and Botany, but contains several independent contributions including a newly written biography.
