Since 2022, when the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was jointly awarded to Sharpless, Bertozzi, and Meldal for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry, the field of click chemistry has expanded significantly. For example, it now encompasses new protocols, substrates (including proteins), catalysts, and solvent systems, while conditions have been developed enabling click chemistry to be conducted in a greener and more sustainable manner. In this 2-set volume, we showcase some of the recent advances that have been made with click chemistry by leaders in the field. Volume 1 focuses on click chemistry being used in the synthesis of compounds, which features chapters on novel click chemistry approaches and catalyst systems for the synthesis of various materials, click chemistry in the synthesis of polymers, using click chemistry to immobilize enzymes and catalysts to be used in continuous flow chemistry systems, and the sustainability aspects of click-chemistry transformations. Volume 2 focuses on work done to advance biological applications of click chemistry such as using click chemistry for bioconjugation, peptidomimetics, protein modification in live cells and in vivo, and in the development of PROTACS, as well as for drug delivery. This book will be of interest to practitioners of organic synthesis, bioconjugation and protein modification, continuous flow chemistry, medicinal chemistry (drug delivery), and catalysis (the development of new catalysts).
