EU:s formella grunder, politik och mål ligger fast sedan Lissabonfördraget 2009, och det krävs enighet bland EU-länderna för att ändra de styrande grundfördragen, vilket gör detta mycket svårt. Åtminstone behövs en konstruktiv debatt, vilket boken vill bidra till, med författare från olika länder. Ofta, men inte alltid, med olika gröna perspektiv. I projektet med boken ingick också den likaså fortfarande aktuella hemsidan eusverige.se, framtagen av Anders Erkéus, där bland annat EU:s grundfördrag synliggörs, liksom länkar för att följa politiken och debatten.
