Mysterious fires and relentless storms wear down an already dwindling population, but as the fires grow more focused and destructive, a young messenger is compelled to seek out answers that have been hidden from him for twenty years. When I saw the smoke rising again, I knew it was him. Because he always waited for the storm before setting another fire. He wanted us terrified and restless. But he didn’t account for our maxim, the three words that made us Galilieans. We endured because of those three words. It was the same reason Raindrop and I always followed the smoke. Despite Luminator Eloanne’s warnings, I couldn’t let it keep happening. She was still looking for survivors like me—anyone who would bite down on the world and never let go—who would scratch and crawl and dig and hold on, even as it all burned. They were out there. We only had to find them.

Hana may have settled into her new life in America, but in this second volume of the Tomo graphic novel series, she must face challenges at school and at home when her two rivals seek to frame her for cheating and fox warriors arrive to find the sword she is tasked to keep hidden. And once her grandfather reveals more of the prophecy linked to the sword, Hana learns she must train in the dojo like never before.Things have stabilized since her move from Japan and the attack on her grandfather’s dojo in San Francisco, and thirteen-year-old Hana is enjoying time with her new friend Brittany, martial arts training, and getting to know her grandfather’s quirky raccoon “pet,” Tomo. But little does she know what lies ahead. Brittany’s old friends are still angry at Hana for “stealing” Brittany away, and have plans to get their revenge by framing Hana as a cheater. At the same time, fox warriors from the fantastical world of Argon Falls have returned through the portal and are intent on getting the spirit sword for their master, no matter the cost. And when her grandfather reveals Hana’s role in a prophecy that links Argon Falls and Earth, and one of Tomo’s secrets is revealed, Hana realizes her problems may have just begun. My Double-Edged Life:is perfect for readers 10 and upwas created by veteran animators from Disney Animation Studiosfeatures diverse characters, including an Asian main charactercontains kid-friendly, anime-like illustrations and a relatable plotwill appeal to fans of Studio Ghibli, Jen Wang, and graphic novels

Discoveries about the past, deceptions at school, and divisions in the kingdom—what a day! Hana finds out she’s more than just a good fighter and a true friend—she learns how her coming into Argon Falls fulfills a prophecy. Tomo reveals Hana’s past to her, telling about her parents and the mysterious stranger responsible for the warfare in this other dimension. And while Hana deals with Argon Falls, Brittany covers for her at school, setting out to clear Hana’s name.

The action moves from San Francisco to Argon Falls, where Hana learns that the enemy wants to steal the Spirit Sword from her to completely enslave the citizens. In preparing for battle, she will learn that, even after one’s training is complete, there are still lessons to be learned.

Having entered Argon Falls, Hana meets her spoiler and grieves for people suffering under oppression. The time arrives to employ her skills and the Spirit Sword as she and Tomo pursue deadly assassins returning to earth to remove the source of protective prayer. As the struggle against evil and oppression continues in book five, Hana learns that, because of the power of prayer, not all warriors fight with fists and swords.

Hana would be like any other thirteen-year-old immigrant trying to fit into life at an American school, but she also battles hostile, animal-like warriors from the dimension of Argon Falls. In discovering secrets about her identity and her past, Hana bravely faces her enemies and realizes her divinely-given purpose. SWORDS CLASH, BATTLE ERUPTS, AND A FRIEND GOES DOWN! Hana and Tomo return to Argon Falls only to find an impenetrable dungeon holds their friends captive. But Ardath – now clad in the Armor of the Ancients – has doubts that give hope he may turn and join the fight against evil. Time runs short for the citizens of Argon Falls as the intrigue of spies and the violence of battle threaten to separate Hana from her friends – forever!

ONE FINAL BATTLE BRINGS GLORY ... OR DESTRUCTION The war appears lost and Argon Falls is doomed, but Hana's friends still believe in the power of prayer. With their support, her faith is restored and Hana bravely rejoins the fight. But when the forces of good and evil face off once more, the final battle will determine the fate of Argon Falls … forever.

Liam Kerr is your typical 16 year old boy in 2293... He wakes up, eats breakfast, goes to school, and, in 24 months, he will make the biggest decision of his life. Now, I know what you’re thinking, and no — it’s not college. Human ingenuity has evolved past that. Upon graduating from grade school, the need for that 4+ year advanced education exercise is truncated into a single, instantaneous download of information. Instead, the human paradox in the 23rd century is simply the decision of a lifetime, made at the age of 18. Facing the transition from teenager to adulthood, all humans must decide what is more important: traveling the cosmic ocean as an android, devoid of most capacity for emotion; or living out their days as a “biological” on earth, confronting all the beauty and ugliness of the human paradigm.  Even with science fantasy technology being harnessed, physics still has its limits. Only highly-advanced nanotech machinery can travel and particularize up- and downstream, withstanding the crushing forces at these unimaginable speeds. The biological human body cannot withstand this (though not for lack of trying: decades of failed missions have brought us to this solution). The optimal way to collect interstellar data and information is thus to fuse the human consciousness into a one way ticket, human machine hybrid. An Android.  Mind transfers and other robotic innovations are commonplace in the 23rd century, but again we find that with great innovation comes the ever present caveats. The biological transfer only works at the age of 18, due to the health of the synapses’ in the brain. Any older and it becomes uncertain if the transfer would work — by the age of 30 it’s akin to suicide. Earth has achieved marvelous innovation. Unimaginable science fiction has become science fact, including the most impressive feat of them all: the ability to travel at Faster Than Light speed. Humans have unlocked the possibility to visit countless worlds filled with intelligent life. A dream that science has imagined since the dawn of Copernicus. Now fully-realized, the question that festers in every adolescent is simple:  “What is the price of the stars?” Wishful thinking has been lost to time. Science fiction folly of fairytale endings and dreams of a long and fruitful life on earth, ending in a fusion of man and machine into the dark horizon of space and time with the never ending adventure of the cosmos was nothing more than a fool's errand. .  The great humor, as the people would refer to it, is the poetic truth that no species beyond the earth could ever meet a biological human. No matter how clever their technology was, no matter how elegant their solutions may be, humanity would never encounter another species face-to-face. Only their Derivative Andronic selves had that honor.  The time is now nearing for young Liam to decide what type of being he is destined to be. A space-faring machine with an undying consciousness and the prospect of endless adventures throughout the cosmic sea… or the beautiful biological man nature had intended  him to be. Earthy desires will pull him to stay, while his cosmic curiosity for greater knowledge and experiences will push him to leave. This is now every human’s decision to bear. But only Liam can ultimately decide for himself — his destiny, his future; his mortality, or immortality.

This is the heroic journey of the damsel in distress. What happens when a Princess is imprisoned and there is no Prince to save her? What happens when she must be her own savior even in the face of a faceless enemy whose numbers are legion? This is that story. Think 300 Meets Cinderella if, of course, it was written by Edgar Allen Poe. Meet Constance. Before becoming a princess, she was merely a maid who washed dishes by day and by night slept upon a bookshelf in the village library. But now, she is heir to a throne and has her own servants. She expected neither wealth nor pomp in this life. Never hoped to find a prince who longed to find her. Never even believed a happily ever after was possible. She should have trusted her instincts. For in the days after her wedding day, when life was to be settled, complete, dark clouds of war begin to blot out the sunrises that follow. When her new husband, the Captain of the Guard, is forced to leave her and go to battle, the annuls of his exploits are horrible, but even more terrifying is the day his letters stopped coming. And when the Castle Keep, which promised safety and protection, is burned to the ground, there is no one there to save Princess Constance, save Princess Constance herself. For those who have ever felt trapped, lost, belittled, abused, broken, and a prisoner of life, take heart, for it still could be worse. And for Constance, a princess who does not yet even know how to be a princess, it will be.

Eva is a popular painter on the verge of unbelievable acclaim and success, but her inability to reconcile the public perception of who she is, versus her actual self, allows the SPIRITBOX to transport her to a surreal world, where she finds herself trapped in the realm where all our false shadows become real and dangerous.

As secrets come to light in this world, darkness ensnares another. After fending off assassins, Hana reveals the story about Argon Falls to her friends in San Francisco. But Pastor James teachers her and Tomo about something even more important—forgiveness and new life. Hana’s time here will get cut short, however, when the enemy encircles her family members in a trap back in Argon Falls.
