Since the publication of its predecessor volume Contemporary Catholic Education in 2002, the Catholic education landscape has experienced significant developments and challenges. The notion that the perennial, in the form of the rich heritage of the Catholic education tradition, must remain in constant dialogue with the transitional educational landscape permeates this publication. This is rooted in a sacramental vision of the human person and is anchored in three core principles: the dignity of the individual, the call to human flourishing and the promise of a divine destiny. The extent to which Catholic school teachers, leaders and governors embrace the challenge to embed these core principles, while acknowledging a range of factors challenging the holistic perspective canonised in Catholic tradition, features prominently in this volume. This project offers personal enrichment, capturing the bridge between the historical ‘personal encounters’ and his ‘current discourse’. This offers a powerful way to frame his legacy and offer a message of hope to a world entangled in disarray.
It is source of great joy and satisfaction to myself, and the Midwest Province, that this volume is a publication in a new Augustinian Series. I thank all those involved in any aspect of this production. It is edited by an Augustinian friar, has a number of Augustinian contributors, and gives details of ‘Bob’s’ (Pope Leo) life as friar, both in the US and Peru, and his time when he was Prior Provincial of the Midwest Province as well as Prior General of the Order of St Augustine, Bishop of Chiclayo, Peru and then Cardinal Prefect. This book then, adds to the various books being researched, written and published about his life and ministry, but more importantly is one which brings a very distinctive Augustinian ‘flavor and focus’. I can only commend it to all readers, Augustinians and beyond!’

Este libro sitúa su epicentro en esa explosión instantánea que desató el grupo británico y, describiendo una onda expansiva que pronto desvió su trayectoria gracias a la ambición o la estupidez de muchos de sus artífices, nos invita a imaginar "otro punk". Porque, más que la historia de Sex Pistols, "Rotten: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs" expone las instrucciones de una manera de vida, redactadas a fogonazos, con tanta aportación del cerebro como del corazón y sin un plan maestro detrás. Mientras nos seguimos preguntando año tras año qué es el punk, John Lydon prefirió responder a esta generalidad casi abstracta sin dar una respuesta.
