El peregrino es un emigrado argentino que viaja por el mar y canta alabando la naturaleza americana. «Cantos del peregrino» es un largo y ambicioso poema que José Mármol escribió a lo largo de varios años y que acabó compuesto de doce cantos sobre América y los sentimientos amorosos, religiosos y patrióticos de su autor.

Esta obra es una crónica de José Mármol sobre el asesinato de Florencio Varela, redactor del «Comercio del Plata», en Montevideo. Varela defendió los intereses de los unitarios como diplomático y luchó contra el gobierno de Juan Manuel de Rosas, hasta que fue asesinado en 1848. Su muerte conmocionó a los opositores de Rosas y Mármol lo ensalzó en este texto.

«El cruzado» (1851) es un drama en verso y cinco actos que se estrenó el 5 de noviembre de 1842. La historia de esta tragedia se ambienta en la época medieval, durante las luchas entre cruzados y musulmanes, en Antioquía.

«Manuela Rosas» es un folleto del escritor argentino José Mármol sobre Manuela Rosas, la hija del dictador Manuel Rosas. En él, Mármol presenta a Manuela como mediadora entre su padre y el pueblo y lamenta el egoísmo con el que su padre la utilizaba para sus propósitos políticos, así como la degradación y la frustración a las que el tirano sometía a su hija.

Esta es una recopilación de los poemas de José Mármol. En ellos están presentes las preocupaciones habituales del poeta: el amor, la religión, la patria… Algunos de estos poemas, que el poeta llama «armonías», son «Al 25 de mayo de 1841», «Recogimiento», «Amor», «Sueños», «Los tres instantes», «Cristóbal Colón» o «Ayer y hoy».

Esta es una recopilación de los poemas de José Mármol, compilados por su hijo, algunos de ellos inéditos hasta entonces. Las obras poéticas que se recogen aquí están divididas en dos partes: «Cantos del peregrino» y «Poesías diversas».

«Amalia» es una novela del escritor José Mármol publicada como folletín a partir de 1851. El joven unitario Eduardo Belgrado es herido cuando abandona Buenos Aires para unirse a las tropas que luchan contra Rosas. Su amigo Daniel lo salva y lo lleva a casa de su prima, Amalia, una joven viuda. Ella y Eduardo se enamoran en medio de la tragedia y los crímenes de guerra.
