Alexander is the most normal and loved eleven-year-old boy you will ever meet. Until one day, he isn't.Living in the south east of England in the 1990s, Alexander's life appears stable - a warm home, a loving mother, and a familiar school routine. But beneath the surface, things begin to shift. Affection turns cold. Words are twisted. The father he once looked up to becomes a figure of confusion and fear.As the tension in the house builds, Alexander is forced to question everything: his place in the family, his worth, and whether the love he thought was unconditional ever really existed. While friendships and football offer brief moments of safety, the emotional pressure at home grows unbearable, and he's left trying to make sense of a world that suddenly seems stacked against him.Growing Pains is a raw, emotionally charged debut inspired by true events. It lays bare the hidden scars of emotional abuse and explores the quiet, persistent damage inflicted by those closest to us. Told entirely from Alexander's perspective, it captures the confusion, shame, and resilience of a child trying to survive in a home where silence is the only defence. This is book one in a powerful new series following Alexander's fight to be heard, to heal, and to find out who he is beyond the pain.A portion of profits from this book will be donated to child protection charities, including the NSPCC.

Alexander's world has fractured. The stability he once relied on is gone, replaced by a home that feels more like a battlefield with every passing day. Mentally drained and physically worn down, he enters his teenage years with one clear goal: to survive long enough to escape.Forced to build his own sense of safety long before any child should have to, Alex begins to find unexpected moments of kindness and connection in the world beyond his front door. Slowly, the balance of power at home begins to shift, and for the first time he glimpses what life might look like on the other side of fear. But survival comes at a cost.Caught between the compassion his mother instilled in him and the harsh, outdated expectations of a father driven by control and violence, Alex is forced into a decision no teenager should have to make: who is he willing to become in order to get out?The Echo and The Voice continues Alex's story as childhood gives way to adolescence and the rules of survival change with him. It is a raw and unflinching coming-of-age story about resilience, identity, and the quiet, daily courage it takes to hold onto yourself when everything around you is trying to shape you into something else. A story about the echoes we inherit, the voices we silence, and the one we eventually choose to listen to.This is the second instalment in the Growing Pains series and follows directly from Book 1, Growing Pains.

This book aims to present the theory of interpolation for rational matrix functions as a recently matured independent mathematical subject with its own problems, methods and applications. The authors decided to start working on this book during the regional CBMS conference in Lincoln, Nebraska organized by F. Gilfeather and D. Larson. The principal lecturer, J. William Helton, presented ten lectures on operator and systems theory and the interplay between them. The conference was very stimulating and helped us to decide that the time was ripe for a book on interpolation for matrix valued functions (both rational and non-rational). When the work started and the first partial draft of the book was ready it became clear that the topic is vast and that the rational case by itself with its applications is already enough material for an interesting book. In the process of writing the book, methods for the rational case were developed and refined. As a result we are now able to present the rational case as an independent theory. After two years a major part of the first draft was prepared. Then a long period of revising the original draft and introducing recently acquired results and methods followed. There followed a period of polishing and of 25 chapters and the appendix commuting at various times somewhere between Williamsburg, Blacksburg, Tel Aviv, College Park and Amsterdam (sometimes with one or two of the authors).
