Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2022 in the subject Engineering - Mining Engineering, , language: English, abstract: This study used non-experimental approaches to evaluate the shear strength of unsaturated soil. Numerous reasons exist for considering non-experimental approaches acceptable for determining the shear strength of unsaturated soils. One of the primary reasons why non-experimental techniques might be regarded a viable option is because performing tests to determine the shear soils is a complicated and time-consuming operation. Typically, the technique entails a number of operations that need specialized equipment and the execution of methodical stages. If the findings are required quickly, the time necessary to obtain them might be harmful to the entire operation. Due to the fact that engineering processes frequently need fast results, experimental approaches may not be effective in certain circumstances.

Akademische Arbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich Medizin - Sonstiges, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Autophagy is a well-developed intracellular breakdown mechanism. Based on the mechanism of cargo transport into lysosomes used by mammals, there are three types of autophagic processes: chaperone-mediated autophagy, microautophagy, and macroautophagy, all of which are referred to as autophagy. Autophagosomes are double-membrane-bound vesicles that absorb unnecessary or misfolded proteins as well as damaged subcellular organelles and transport them to lysosomes for disintegration. The mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1), a critical regulator of autophagy, inhibits autophagy at a low baseline level in almost all cells to maintain cellular homeostasis. When mTORC1 is inhibited, autophagy is released in response to many types ofcellular stress, such as food restriction, growth factor withdrawal, or hypoxia, and it is greatly increased to meet high energy demands.Dynamic interactions between compartments of the autophagic and endocytic pathways are essential for digestion to be completed. As the brain ages, neuron interactions become more prone to irregularities. Autophagy-controlling gene alterations have been associated to a wide spectrum of neurodegenerative illnesses in persons of all ages, which is not surprising. Defects in the autophagy system are seen at various stages in late-onset disorders such as Alzheimer''s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and familial Parkinson''s disease, with varying etiology and therapeutic implications.

Seminar paper from the year 2023 in the subject Politics - General and Theories of International Politics, University of Pretoria, course: master of arts in political science, language: English, abstract: The following paper deals with the political and economical situation of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) stands as a beacon of potential on the African continent due to its vast natural resources. Yet, beneath this wealth lies a tumultuous history marked by political upheavals, economic mismanagement, and persistent conflict. From the post-independence era, characterized by power struggles and Mobutu Sese Seko's autocratic rule, to the recent controversial elections of 2018 and 2023, political stability remains elusive. Economic potential, particularly in cobalt and copper mining, is hampered by corruption, mismanagement, and conflict-driven violence, particularly in the eastern provinces. Concurrently, historical factors, including the colonial legacy and the aftermath of regional wars, intertwine with contemporary challenges, such as neo-patrimonialism and social identity politics. International actors, including the United States, United Nations, and European Union, have intervened with diplomatic efforts and economic aid, but the DRC's complexity necessitates nuanced, long-term strategies. This discussion delves deep into the multifaceted issues plaguing the DRC, emphasizing the urgent need for collaborative solutions that recognize both its potential and intricate challenges.
