Fifty-year-old council worker Brian Price didn''t know he had a spare room in his head, so it came as a complete surprise when Gordlyn, a fifth-dimensional entity from Al Nur, took up residence.
The Al Nurians were once similar to humans, but ascended to the fifth dimension and became energy beings. You might think this means they are enlightened. Unfortunately for Brian Price, they are not. The Al Nur race is racked by infighting and petty squabbling, and worst of all, they use earthlings to help resolve their differences. Engaging ''Daints'' - Al Nurians who can cohabit within a human brain - they play chess-like games using other beings, like humans, as their pawns.
Poor Brian didn''t want a lodger taking up room in his head. He didn''t want to be part of the hilarious rollercoaster ride his life became. He certainly didn''t want to be beaten up, committed, responsible for riots and strikes, or to become an accidental hero.
He just wanted life to be easy, to enjoy some true love and a little ''rumpty tumpty''. But his life was not that simple. The Al Nur had other plans for him, and all he could do was hold on to his hat and try not to lose his sanity!
''Laugh-out-loud funny.'' L.J. Holgate
REVIEWS
A friend of mine suggested this book, and I''m so glad he did. The plot is refreshingly different from other books I''ve read which in turn adds to the unpredictability of the storyline as it unfolds. The characters are wonderfully crafted and the author skilfully introduces a diverse group drawn together by circumstances none would have envisaged. The drama builds and is interspersed with humour which had me laughing out loud. I found it hard to put the book down as I just had to turn to the next page. L.J. Holgate
David Hodge''s latest book, The Man with a Spare Room in His Head, is an eminently captivating novel. Written very much in the style of Franz Kafka, this is a compelling read with fascinating sub-plots, humour, suspense, terror and even a bit of adult intimacy. The Man with a Spare Room in his Head is immensely enjoyable, compelling and thought-provoking. It should be added to everyone''s list of Must Reads. Jeannette McInnes, Author
Wow! What a ride! Really great read. Clever wording and hilarious. I truly enjoyed reading this book. Will be one of those books I read again and again. Kimberly Osmond
Interesting story - no spoilers - highly original - most enjoyable and easy read. J.L. Nash

PRAISE FOR KIMBERLEY ANNE
''....The story itself flows so well it is a wonderful read, it kept me entertained and wanting more once I was done. It is one I will re-read and that is saying a huge amount! This is a huge accomplishment for a debut novel. There is a little mystery, romance and not over-the-top but tasteful and well-done romance, a gentle and respectful but incredibly hot male lead, fun and music. Kimberley knocked this book out of the ballpark, and I truly look forward to reading what she writes next!'' Tegan Chamberlain, Goodreads 5-star review
''Blackout is about love, passion, second chances, loyalty and family. Book one in this series is a fabulous read for fans of relationship drama and steamy romance. I can''t wait for book 2!'' Rhonda Stafford, ARC Reviewer

This first book in this series is an enjoyable and entertaining read, the characters are likeable and believable, and the plot flows nicely as the reader follows Harley and Zach as they try to find their own music and a path to love. A fabulous read for lovers of romance, relationships and second chances....'' Sue Brown, ARC Reviewer
''Harley James is all too human in her pursuit to face her grief, overcome her anxiety and find the right balance between living up to the expectations of her grandfather and fulfilling her role as the ''perfect'' manager and saviour of her family business and having a life of her own. Add the perfectly handsome and charismatic Zach Black and you have the best page-turning holiday read with just the right amount of romance and intrigue to keep you hooked. I cannot recommend this steamy romance novel enough!'' Tallaya Wood

She inherited a legacy of ambition, betrayal, longing and secrets.
In the shadow of Poisson Gold, a multi-billion-dollar gold mine conglomerate, a family''s legacy unravels in a compelling tale that dives deep into the human psyche.
At the helm of this empire stands the enigmatic Abe Silver, a concentration camp survivor whose past holds secrets as complex as his fortune. With his health failing, Abe''s last-minute will alters the course of history, leaving his daughter Ellie, a newly minted lawyer, to navigate a treacherous path to control the colossal riches.
As grieving Ellie grapples with the immense responsibility thrust upon her, she must confront not only the malignant opposition of her own family and the rigid glass ceiling, but also her deeply buried secret - her sexuality. Set against the backdrop of 2010, a time when LGBTQ+ acceptance was scarce, Ellie''s struggle to reconcile her personal truth with her public facade adds an extra layer of complexity to this riveting narrative.
PRAISE FOR THE UNEXPECTED HEIRESS
The Unexpected Heiress transcends time and weaves horrors from World War II with present-day challenges. From Abe''s harrowing past to Ellie''s contemporary struggles, an embittered brother, a vacuous globetrotting socialite mother, and the betrayal of a much-loved kid brother, the novel paints a vivid portrait of a family divided by loyalties, lies and the enduring power of love...this novel had things that people will enjoy, as it shines a light on what it is like to come from a family legacy and have that legacy fall on your shoulders, and the need to fight to keep it, the desire to shine a light on the different ways people are discriminated against by people who know them and people who don''t. The Book Muse
''I found The Unexpected Heiress unputdownable. I enjoyed the story of Abe''s dysfunctional family and agony in naming a successor after finding out about his cancer. It certainly had many surprise moments and did not shy away from sexual choices, family drama and intrigue. I loved feeling a part of the iconic lifestyle of the Sydney Eastern Suburbs, including the morning runs, restaurants and country stays that were easy to relate to. Looking forward to the sequel.'' Margaret Wave, Personal Banker. Westpac BC
''The human spirit''s resilience in the face of adversity takes centre stage in The Unexpected Heiress.'' Australian Book Lovers
''George writes with passion, honesty and grace. Lots of charismatic, creative and realistic characters and scenarios. I enjoyed my glimpse into the riches of the Silver family when melodramatic daily life was the norm for them. It reminded me of an 80s glamorous tv series but set in the 2000s and in the realms of successful soap Dallas. It is also reminiscent of the late great Sidney Sheldon, much in that same plot style.'' Happy Valley Books
''From page one, I enjoyed reading The Unexpected Heiress. I related to the people, the places in and around the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, and I enjoyed the use of Yiddish words throughout the story.'' Rose Sevitt, Eastern Suburbs Life
