For the past 20 years, Bernhard Winking and Martin Froh have been active along the entire spectrum of architecture and urban planning in Europe and China. With their award-winning redevelopment of Spiegel-Insel in Hamburg and the addition to the Esplanade, Winking · Froh Architekten have demonstrated in exemplary fashion how ensembles of post-war modernism can be preserved in a manner appropriate to their status as historic monuments yet further developed in a contemporary manner. Their residential buildings – in Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg and other places – are distinctive yet blend into their respective surroundings and use sustainable and durable materials. Sparing use of sculptural design elements goes hand in hand with attractive floor plans. Another aspect of their work is urban development projects such as Europaplatz in Heidelberg and Book City in Ningbo.

Der Handel in den Innenstädten ist weggebrochen, die Bedeutung von Büros nimmt ab. Dafür werden mehr Grünflächen für die Erholung benötigt und veränderte Wohnungsgrundrisse, um das Homeoffice aufzunehmen. Das Buch benennt die wichtigsten architektonischen und städtebaulichen Veränderungen, die mit Corona in Stadt und Land einhergehen, stellt sie in den Kontext des Stadtumbaus durch den Klimawandel, verortet sie historisch und leitet daraus konkrete Strategien und Chancen ab, um den zentralen Zukunftsherausforderungen zu begegnen, die sich aus der Pandemie für Stadt und Land ergeben.

In her photographic series Paris – 9 Rue de l’Université, Frizzi Krella (b. 1970) explores the seemingly mundane subject of a window front undergoing renovation work. With her precise eye, she transforms her observations into a multifaceted reflection of the moment, a composition of the ephemeral. Krella’s photographs are an invitation to investigate the world, with its various distortions and compositions, as if it were a puzzle. They are an opportunity to delight in the playful appropriation of the various layers of reality and coincidence in order to assimilate the things we have seen into the cosmos of our own experience of art and the world around us. Thus, her work takes us all the way back to the very origins of photography and to the Paris of two centuries ago, when moments first began to achieve timelessness.Text in English, German and French.
