Can you afford not to read this book?........ The Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) offers a consistent set of services to mobile computer and phone users and numerous different radio access technologies will co-exist within the UMTS system''s core network - security is, therefore, of the utmost importance. UMTS Security focuses on the standardized security features of UMTS and brings together material previously only available in specifications, design documents and presentations in one concise form. In addition, this unique volume also covers non-standard implementation specific features that allow differentiation between operators and manufacturers. * Describes the security solutions specified for UMTS * Provides a comprehensive presentation of the UMTS security specifications and explains the role of the security functionality in the UMTS system * Presents the UMTS security system in its totality from the theoretical background through to the design process * Discusses the new security features included in Release 4 and 5 By providing a unified treatment of the security services provided by the UMTS system, this volume will provide invaluable information and have instant appeal to planners, constructers and implementers of UMTS networks, and developers and analysts of application oriented security services that make use of UMTS communication networks. It will also be of considerable interest to postgraduates and researchers of modern communication security technology.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Cryptographer's Track at the RSA Conference 2015, CT-RSA 2015, held in San Francisco, CA, USA, in April 2015. The 26 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 111 submissions. The focus of the track is on following subjects: timing attacks, design and analysis of block ciphers, attribute and identity based encryption, membership, secure and efficient implementation of AES based Cryptosystems, chosen ciphertext attacks in theory and practice, algorithms for solving hard problems, constructions of hash functions and message authentication codes, secure multiparty computation, authenticated encryption, detecting and tracing malicious activities, implentation attacks on exponentiation algorithms and homomorphic encryption and its applications.

SAC 2002 was the Ninth Annual Workshop on Selected Areas in Cryptography. Previous workshops have been held at Queen's University in Kingston (1994, 1996, 1998, and 1999), Carleton University in Ottawa (1995 and 1997), Univ- sity of Waterloo (2000), and the Fields Institute in Toronto (2001). The intent of the workshopis to provide a relaxedatmosphere in which researchersin cr- tography can present and discuss new work on selected areasof current interest. The traditional themes for SAC workshops are: - Design and analysis of symmetric key cryptosystems. - Primitives for private-key cryptography, including block and streamciphers, hash functions, and MACs. - E?cientimplementationofcryptographicsystems inpublic- andprivate-key cryptography. The special theme for SAC 2002 was: - Cryptographic solutions for mobile and wireless network security. The local historic connections can be described in three words: communi- tions, transatlantic, and wireless. After JohnCabot discoveredNewfoundland at the end of the 15th century, sea communication was established between that eastern outpost of the Western Hemisphere and Europe. Also in Newfoundland is Hearts Content where the ?rst successful transatlantic cable was landed in 1866.Mostremarkably,onDecember12,1901,GuglielmoMarconireportedfrom Signal Hill near St. John's that he successfully received the ?rst transatlantic wireless signals, three dots, the Morse coding of letter "S," sent from Cornwall, UK.
