In a world where the Demon King has died, a host of demigods capable of felling him have inherited the world. A master fencer who can figure out how to take out their opponents with a single glance; a lancer so swift they can break the sound barrier; a wyvern rogue who fights with three legendary weapons at once; an all-powerful wizard who can speak thoughts into being; an angelic assassin who deals instant death. Eager to attain the title of “True Hero,” these champions each pursue challenges against formidable foes and spark conflicts among themselves. The battle to determine the mightiest of the mighty begins.

Tremendous destruction has been wrought by the central players in the New Demon King War. Gods made flesh have met their end as their names enter the annals of history. Even so, there are still those with enough power to give shape to the new era. Among them are a golem who revives endlessly by conquering whatever weakness caused its downfall, a giant whose far-reaching arrows transform the very terrain, and an entity that reduces everything it touches to dust... When these forces of nature encounter those who would use their powers for their own ends, the world enters a veritable arms race. And while the seat of the True Hero remains empty, those who profit most from conflict bide their time while their champion lights the flames of war once again.

The battle between the sixteen shura, the chosen representatives of a world ruled by strength, has begun at last. On one end of the battlefield, the Old Kingdoms’ loyalists seek to use the chaos caused by the Particle Storm to stage an uprising and tip the scales in their favor. Meanwhile, the New Principality of Lithia lights a match under the New Demon King War and threatens to reduce everything to ash. After an age of terror, the world will undergo another massive change, and whispers of the True Demon King will be heard far and wide. When the dust finally settles, will the last one standing be the world’s savior? Or will the victor usher in a new era of pain...?

Though speculation ran rampant, the fifth match of the Sixways Exhibition between Psianop the Inexhaustible Stagnation and Lucnoca the Winter was ultimately short-lived. The next legends to clash will be Mestelexil the Box of Desperate Knowledge and Zeljirga the Abyss Web. The first is an infinitely regenerating golem with a near-limitless arsenal of lethal weapons at his disposal. The other is a devious trickster whose dark webs extend from the battlefield to intelligence networks the world over, as befitting a member of Obsidian Eyes. The greatest body versus the greatest mind… And as the forces in the shadows continue to move, chaos looms patiently on the horizon…

The warriors prepare to face off against Alus the Star Runner, who has become Aureatia’s greatest enemy. Following his defeat against Lucnoca the Winter, Alus has been transformed into a cyborg and has begun the attack on Aureatia with his eye on plunder! Only magic items have any hope of harming his new form. The city goes up in flames, bodies litter the ground, and rivers run red with blood. All are strong, all are heroic, but only one can claim the mantle of the True Hero.

The city quivers in the wake of the destruction wrought by Alus the Star Runner. Yet beneath the surface, a shadowy malefactor espies an opportunity to claim power… Taking advantage of the chaos, Iriolde the Atypical Tome returns from exile and immediately begins to act. As plots and schemes intermingle, the next round of the Sixways Exhibition commences! A cold grin finds its way to Lucnoca the Winter’s glacial maw as she anticipates her next opponent: a mere ooze…with the mind of a master tactician. Psianop the Inexhaustible Stagnation squelches into the arena, but what sort of secret weapon would allow an ooze to pose a threat to a legendary dragon?!

The Last Yagyu, Soujirou the Willow-Sword versus Rosclay the Absolute. By eliminating Lucnoca the Winter without getting blood on his own hands, it seemed Rosclay’s victory was certain. But Hiroto the Paradox, with his obsidian eye, still wants to rip out his throat. Amidst a chaos where everyone is seeking to triumph with their respective ideals, a sword of a battle-hungry willow cuts through the “absolute.”
