The topic of Shakespeare and religion is a perennial one, and the recent "turn to religion" in historical and literary scholarship has pushed it to the fore. Besides speculating about Shakespeare's personal religious beliefs and allegiance, historians and literary critics writing about early modern England are reexamining the religious dynamics of the period and emphasizing the ways in which old, new, and emerging religious cultures coexisted in conflicting hybrid and unstable forms. The contributors to Shakespeare and Religion: Early Modern and Postmodern Perspectives deal with the topic of Shakespeare and religion from two points of view not always considered complementary—that of the historical approach to Shakespearean drama in its early modern contexts, and that of postmodern philosophy and theology. The first illuminates the culture-specific features of the plays, whereas the second emphasizes their transhistorical qualities and the relevance of the deep religious and philosophical issues surfacing in early modern culture to contemporary religious struggles and awareness.

In Shakespeare and Abraham, Ken Jackson illuminates William Shakespeare's dramatic fascination with the story of Abraham's near sacrifice of his son Isaac in Genesis 22. Themes of child killing fill Shakespeare's early plays: Genesis 22 informed Clifford's attack on young Rutland in 3 Henry 6, Hubert's providentially thwarted murder of Arthur in King John, and Aaron the Moor's surprising decision to spare his son amidst the filial slaughters of Titus Andronicus, among others.However, the playwright's full engagement with the biblical narrative does not manifest itself exclusively in scenes involving the sacrifice of children or in verbal borrowings from the famously sparse story of Abraham. Jackson argues that the most important influence of Genesis 22 and its interpretive tradition is to be found in the conceptual framework that Shakespeare develops to explore relationships among ideas of religion, sovereignty, law, and justice. Jackson probes the Shakespearean texts from the vantage of modern theology and critical theory, while also orienting them toward the traditions concerning Abraham in Jewish, Pauline, patristic, medieval, and Reformation sources and early English drama. Consequently, the playwright's "Abrahamic explorations" become strikingly apparent in unexpected places such as the "trial" of Shylock in The Merchant of Venice and the bifurcated structure of Timon of Athens. By situating Shakespeare in a complex genealogy that extends from ancient religion to postmodern philosophy, Jackson inserts Shakespeare into the larger contemporary conversation about religion in the modern world.

We live in a commercial world where much of our work is undertaken through a project -oriented approach. This has the advantage of determining the cost and time of the project to be undertaken, which in their turn are based on the knowledge of what the project is to deliver. Computing is no different in this regard, and so in order to organize our activities, we need to know what it is that is to be delivered. Hence Requirements Engineering, an organized approach to determining what is required in the project/ system that is being undertaken. There are some problems with the idea of Requirements Engineering, which I have on previous occasions encapsulated in a single sentence called ''The Mock Theorem of Information Systems'' which states ''There exists some point in time when everyone involved in the system knows what they want and agrees with everyone else'' Clearly nonsense (how would you know what everyone is agreeing to for example?). But in order to build a system on a project basis, this sentence has to be assumed to be true (either explicitly, or even worse, implicitly). Then Requirements Engineering can be made to work, and the correct prod uct/ system delivered by the project. However, we do not have an established alternative to the project approach, and the business world is used to projects. So Requirements Engineering is necessary, but it needs tempering to allow for the desired certainty actually being unknown.

I started off as a musician in high school playingguitar and bass. Coming out of high school, Iknow some of my own songs as well as otherartists. I didnt start writing poems for a whilethough. Except in high school, for English class,I wrote a poem going Lets blow up the rottenschool and build ourselves a swimming pool..and that raised an issue of school threats similarto bomb threats of this day and age.Then there was this dirty poem I wrote in myearly 20s. But I was still writing songs then. I tooksome college courses in jazz, piano, songwritingand creative writing.Back in 85 I recorded with that famous producer. Butch was who producedNeverworld of nirvana, a number one album of the year in the early 90s.Then in 86 I started a 20 year sentence for a crime. This is where I startedwriting poetry. I took a uw-extension course in creative writing. I wrote a fewand people liked them so I wrote more.There came a time where I used poetry as therapy. I would write 2 poemsfor every 2 weeks. And that beats writers block. A lot of BEST OF KENJACKSON has that stuff.Then I was released in 99 and I put out a bunch of rock n roll albums. I wasalso participating in a monthly poetry group for a while. There is a section ofthis book I wrote using a variety of student researchers.Thank you for reading this book.Ken Jackson

This second edition follows quickly on the ?rst edition and is an indication of how fast the subject is changing and developing. In the past two years there have been signi?cant advances and these are re?ected in this new edition. Essentially, this is an update that places more emphasis on modelling by describing a greater range of approaches to system modelling. It introduces the UML2, which is the recent standard approved by the OMG. There is also an enhanced discussion on the relationship between requirements management and modelling, which relates well to the concept of rich traceability. The chapter on the requirements management tool DOORS has been revised to use Version 7 of the tool and this is complemented with examples taken from the DOORS/Analyst tool which demonstrates how the concepts of modelling can be captured and created within DOORS. The text is still aimed at students and practitioners of systems engineering who are keen to gain knowledge of using requirements engineering for system development.
