1969 begann die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Franz Fühmann und Ingrid Prignitz. Schnell wurde die Hinstorff-Lektorin für den Autor zu einer maßgeblichen Ansprechpartnerin und nach 1975 der ausschlaggebende Grund für seine dauerhafte Bindung an den Verlag. 1974 arbeiteten beide an der Konzeption der Fühmann-Werksausgabe, ab 1975 war Ingrid Prignitz über eineinhalb Jahrzehnte zuständig für alle bei Hinstorff erscheinenden Bücher Fühmanns.Knapp zehn Jahre blieben für das gemeinsame Arbeiten, Jahre, die für das Schaffen Fühmanns die wichtigsten wurden. Herausragende Werke entstanden, u.a. der epochale Trakl-Essay "Vor Feuerschlünden" und das Fragment gebliebene "Bergwerk"-Projekt. Ingrid Prignitz war Ratgeberin, Vertraute, Adressatin bei Freude – "Ingrid, heureka, ich habs doch noch geschafft" – wie Wut: "... das ist verrottet und faul bis ins Mark, und gibt sich so biedermännisch, und – neee, ich habs satt." Dieser Briefwechsel ist Arbeitsjournal, lebendiges Zeitdokument und bewegendes Zeugnis einer Freundschaft.
