Cel de-al doilea roman al său, A șaptea funcție a limbajului, roman metaficțional despre Roland Barthes, a fost distins cu Prix Interallié și Prix du roman Fnac în 2015. În 2019 i-a apărut Civilizații (Anansi. World Fiction, 2021), un roman contrafactual în care incașii cuceresc Europa, pentru care i s-a decernat prestigiosul Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française. Perspective (2023) este cel mai recent roman al său. Laurent Binet este și muzician, fost membru al formației Stalingrad.
