An up-to-date exploration of the properties and most recent applications of liquid metalsIn Liquid Metal: Properties, Mechanisms, and Applications, a pair of distinguished researchers delivers a comprehensive exploration of liquid metals with a strong focus on their structure and physicochemical properties, preparation methods, and tuning strategies. The book also illustrates the applications of liquid metals in fields as varied as mediated synthesis, 3D printing, flexible electronics, biomedicine, energy storage, and energy conversion. The authors include coverage of reactive mediums for synthesizing and assembling nanomaterials and direct-writing electronics, and the book offers access to supplementary video materials to highlight the concepts discussed within. Recent advancements in the field of liquid metals are also discussed, as are new opportunities for research and development in this rapidly developing area. The book also includes: A thorough introduction to the fundamentals of liquid metal, including a history of its discovery, its structure and physical properties, and its preparationComprehensive explorations of the external field tuning of liquid metal, including electrical, magnetic, and chemical tuningPractical discussions of liquid metal as a new reaction medium, including nanomaterial synthesis and alloy preparationIn-depth examinations of constructing techniques of liquid metal-based architectures, including injection, imprinting, and mask-assisted depositingPerfect for materials scientists, electrochemists, and catalytic chemists, Liquid Metal: Properties, Mechanisms, and Applications also belongs in the libraries of inorganic chemists, electronics engineers, and biochemists.

The Wei-Liang Chow and Kuo-Tsai Chen Memorial Conference was proposed and held by Prof S S Chern in Nankai Institute of Mathematics. It was devoted to memorializing those two outstanding and original Chinese mathematicians who had made significant contributions to algebraic geometry and algebraic topology, respectively. It also provided a forum for leading mathematicians to expound and discuss their views on new ideas in these fields, as well as trends in 21st Century mathematics. About 100 mathematicians participated in the conference, including Sir Michael Atiyah, Jacob Palis, Phillip Griffiths, David Eisenbud, Philippe Tondeur, Yujiro Kawamata, Tian Gang, etc. This invaluable volume contains the selected papers presented at the conference. The topics include canonical maps of Gorenstein 3-folds, fundamental groups of algebraic curves, Chen's interated integrals, algebraic fiber spaces, and others.

This book serves as an accessible introduction to schemes, coherent sheaves, and their cohomology, designed for readers with only a knowledge of basic commutative algebra. Developed from years of teaching experience, the author has carefully crafted the text to be self-contained, covering the essential concepts necessary for a solid understanding of algebraic geometry. Many readers will find it invaluable for grasping the subject, appreciating its clear explanations and lack of prerequisites. In addition to laying a strong foundation, the book provides ample background for those seeking to explore more advanced topics in the field.
