31-åriga Casey har nyss flyttat hem till Boston, skuldsatt och med krossat hjärta. Som i en bubbla rör hon sig mellan restaurangen där hon jobbar som servitris och trädgårdsskjulet som hon kallar sitt hem. Den enda fasta punkten i hennes liv är romanen som hon skrivit på i sex år.
