Die Bewahrung der natürlichen Umwelt auch für zukünftige Generationen hat in den letzten Jahrzehnten eine zunehmende gesellschaftliche Relevanz erlangt. Heute kann – zumindest in den westlichen Industriestaaten – kein aufwändiger Industriebetrieb errichtet und kein neues, komplexes Produkt auf den Markt gebracht werden, ohne dass die damit verbundenen Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt und den Menschen vertieft untersucht werden. Damit hat auch der Bedarf an Methoden und Ansätzen zugenommen, die jeweilige Umweltsituation systematisch und fair zu erheben, zu bilanzieren und zu bewerten. Das vorliegende Buch stellt das dazu benötigte methodische Wissen zusammen und zeigt anschauliche Anwendungsbeispiele auf.·       Die heute fast unüberschaubare Anzahl von Methoden und Ansätzen zur Umweltbewertung wird strukturiert hinsichtlich der grundlegenden Modellierungs- und Bewertungsansätze.
