The book focuses on protein-based sensing technologies and their applications in health, food safety, and environmental monitoring. It discusses the principles and design of ELISA, LFIA, immunosensors, and enzyme-based sensors as effective analytical tools. The comprehensive text examines the fundamental construction and working principles of these technologies, their implementation in healthcare for clinical diagnostics and pathogen detection, applications in the food industry for identifying adulterants and contaminants, and their utility in environmental assessment for water quality monitoring. Organized in four distinct parts, the book provides in-depth coverage of point-of-care testing methodologies that directly impact human wellbeing across these critical domains. The book for undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD students, researchers and academicians in biotechnology, food science, food science and technology, microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, and chemistry.

Underutilized plants have the potential to be a tremendous source of bioactive compounds and are largely uncharted territory when it comes to the possibilities for application within modern nanomedicine. This book provides a thorough and current account on plant-based green nanoparticles produced from under-exploited plant resources and the ways in which they may be used in human health. The book presents the basics of nanotechnology that utilize plants as the basis for creating nanomaterials, including phytochemical profiling, the chemical synthesis pathways for both metals and alloys, and the Physical/Chemical Characteristics of the resulting nanoparticle materials. The beneficial potential of under-utilized plant derived nanoparticles in the treatment of many different types of diseases is also discussed in detail, including bacterial and fungal infections, Cancer, Diabetes, Obesity, and other constants and acute diseases. In-depth mechanistic describes are included to explain how these nanoparticles are able to provide anti-microbial and anti-cancer properties, through their cellular interactions. By unifying disparate research into one location, this book links basic science to applied research with good schematic figures and evidence-based discussion. It is intended for researchers, graduate students, academics and industry professionals working in the fields of Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, and Biomedical Sciences, as a reference for Sustainable and Innovative Nanotherapeutics.

How can we overcome the existing political, economic, and ecological crises that humanity faces? With the notion of the commons, Lukas Peter argues that this form of social organization can provide answers to the shortcomings of centralized states and open and competitive markets. By building on and going beyond the work of Elinor and Vincent Ostrom, he develops an ecological understanding of the commons and human freedom, more generally, thereby reinterpreting classical thinkers such as John Locke and John Rawls. Importantly, he does not suggest an end to property, states or markets, but rather a radical democratization thereof, ultimately providing a real alternative for the 21st century.
