This volume contains intense studies on Quantum Groups, Knot Theory, Statistical Mechanics, Conformal Field Theory, Differential Geometry and Differential Equation Methods and so on. It has contributions by renowned experts and covers most of the recent developments in these fields.

The present volume is an updated version of the book edited by C N Yang and M L Ge on the topics of braid groups and knot theory, which are related to statistical mechanics. This book is based on the 1989 volume but has new material included and new contributors.

The Conference on Statistical Physics, High Energy, Condensed Matter and Mathematical Physics was held in honor of Professor Chen-Ning Yang's 85th birthday in Singapore in Oct–Nov 2007. The conference paid tribute to the breadth and depth of Professor Yang's achievements in physics and science education since he received his Nobel Prize in Physics fifty years ago.This notable birthday volume is a collection of the presentations made at the conference by many eminent scientists who had worked closely with him or who have been influenced to some extent by his work.

The lectures in this volume discuss topics in statistical mechanics, the geometric and algebraic approaches to q-deformation theories, two-dimensional gravity and related problems of mathematical physics, including Vassiliev invariants and the Jones polynomials, the R-matrix with Z-symmetry, reflection equations and quantum algebra, W-geometry, braid linear algebra, holomorphic q-difference systems and q-Poincaré algebra.

This book contains the proceedings of two international conferences: a satellite meeting of the IUPAP Statphys-19 Conference and the Seventh Nankai Workshop, held in Tianjin, China in August 1995. The central theme of the two conferences, which drew participants from 18 countries, was the Yang–Baxter equation and its development and applications. With topics ranging from quantum groups, vertex and spin models, to applications in condensed matter physics, this book reflects the current research interest of integrable systems in statistical mechanics.
