Seminar paper from the year 2004 in the subject Business economics - Business Ethics, Corporate Ethics, grade: 2, 85%, University of Applied Sciences Chur (SSTH Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality, Chur), course: MBA, language: English, abstract: The topic of this paper might lead the cursory reader to the assumption that this is another countless academic paper about Ethic"e;. But "e;Ethic"e; is a topic, which is more than a current interest, and it belongs to each of us. The literature today tends to value independence, encouraging people to become liberated and do their own thing. The reality is that we are interdependent, and the independent model is not optimal for use in an interdependent environment that requires leaders and team players. Sometimes it is necessary to take a deeper look into value systems of persons, environments, and organizations. The main question is How can people survive with integrity in the business environment? and How can organizations provide the employees with the necessary support for ethical behaviour in companies? . The problem with relying on the Personality Ethic is that unless the basic underlying paradigms are right, simply changing outward behaviour is not effective. We see the world based on our perspective, which can have a dramatic impact on the way we perceive things. The character Ethic assumes that there are some absolute principles that exist in all human beings. Some examples of such principles are fairness, honesty, integrity, human dignity, potential and growth. Sometimes principles contrast with practices in that practices arte for specific situations whereas principles have universal application. And especial for these situations it is necessary to have a code of conduct to lead the organization into an ethical direction, and to give the right support.

Scientific Essay from the year 2005 in the subject Tourism - Miscellaneous, grade: 2, HTW fur Technik und Wirtschaft, Chur, course: MBA, language: English, abstract: Imagine a world where travel transforms not just the traveler, but the very destinations they explore. This is the complex reality dissected in this insightful exploration of tourism's multifaceted impact on our planet. From the ambitious projections of the World Tourism Organization's 2020 Vision, forecasting unprecedented growth in international tourist arrivals and spending, to the intricate dance between economic prosperity and socio-cultural preservation, this study delves into the driving forces shaping the modern tourism landscape. Uncover the political shifts, like the fall of the Iron Curtain and China's opening to the world, that unleashed new waves of travelers, and examine the technological advancements revolutionizing transportation and access to information. But it's not all rosy landscapes and exotic adventures. The book confronts the potential pitfalls of unchecked growth, exploring the delicate balance between maximizing accessibility to cultural resources and safeguarding against environmental degradation, cultural collision, and the overexploitation of resources. It grapples with the urgent need to mitigate the risks of terrorism, economic instability, and natural disasters that threaten the industry's future. Venture into the heart of the ecotourism debate, contrasting its sustainable ideals with the often-harsh realities of mass tourism and "e;ecotourism light,"e; where genuine conservation efforts can be overshadowed by commercial interests. Discover the seven core principles that define true ecotourism, emphasizing its role in educating travelers, empowering local communities, and fostering a deep respect for cultural heritage and human rights. Finally, this analysis champions a more holistic vision of tourism, one that prioritizes community development, cross-cultural understanding, and the long-term well-being of both host societies and the environment, urging us to consider how we can ensure tourism becomes a force for positive change rather than a catalyst for irreversible disruption. Explore the fine line between preserving cultural identity and catering to the demands of global travelers, and consider the lasting consequences of our wanderlust. This is more than just a study of tourism; it's a call to action, urging us to become conscious travelers who leave a positive footprint on the world. Through vivid analysis and thought-provoking insights, this book redefines our understanding of travel and its transformative power. The book provides a great overview of the social, political, economic and technological factors driving the expansion of the tourism sector. It explores the intricate relationship between tourism and culture. This book examines ecotourism as a responsible alternative to mass tourism. It includes a bibliography to help readers conduct further research.
