Grids are a crucial enabling technology for scientific and industrial development. Peer-to-peer computing, grid, distributed storage technologies, emerging web service technologies, and other types of networked distributed computing have provided new paradigms exploiting distributed resources. Grids are revolutionizing computing as profoundly as e-mail and the Web.From Grids to Service and Pervasive Computing, the 10th edited volume of the CoreGRID series, is based on the 2008 CoreGRID Symposium, held August 25-26 in the Canary Islands, Spain. The CoreGRID Symposium is organized jointly with the Euro-Par 2008 conference. The aim of this symposium is to strengthen and advance scientific and technological excellence in the area of grid and peer-to-peer computing. This volume is designed for a professional audience composed of researchers and practitioners within the grid and peer-to-peer computing industry. This volume is also suitable for advanced-level students in computer science.

Organized jointly with the Euro-Par 2007 conference, The CoreGRID Symposium intends to become the premiere European event on Grid Computing. The aim of this symposium is to strengthen and advance scientific and technological excellence in the area of Grid and Peer-to-Peer Computing. It is organized by the CoreGRID Network of Excellence funded by the European Union under the sixth Framework Programme. CoreGRID aims at building a virtual European-wide Research Laboratory in Grid and P2P technologies and involves 41 partners from 19 countries gathering 300 researchers and PhD students.Towards Next Generation Grids is designed for a professional audience composed of researchers and practitioners in industry. This volume is also suitable for advanced-level students in computer science. It covers several topics:* Service Level Agreement and Quality of Service* Trust, Security and Virtual Organization* Programming with Software Components* Communication and Networking* Job, Information and Resource Management* Programming Methodology* Workflow Management* Data Management

This volume contains the proceedings of an ESPRIT Advanced Course entitled Future Parallel Computers held in Pisa, June 9-20, 1986. Interest in parallel computers has shown a dramatic increase in recent years. In the last six years, after Japan launched its national Fifth Generation Project to develop parallel computers for use in the 1990s, most other major industrial countries have started comparable national research programmes. For example, a significant proportion of the European Community's USD1.3 billion ESPRIT Programme is devoted to future parallel computers. The competition between the national research programmes, to develop a new generation of computers, has been a catalyst for parallel computer development. In addition, many new parallel computer products are beginning to appear on the market. The 15 chapters of these proceedings are arranged in three parts: Firstly, tutorials on the main classes of parallel computers are presented; secondly, these classes of computers are illustrated by examining important parallel systems being developed; and lastly, important topics that influence all classes of parallel computers are studied in depth.
