Mit der Frage nach dem Verhältnis von Offenbarung und Sprache, dem sprachlichen Offenbarwerden eines Geheimnis bleibenden Gottes, ist das Leitmotiv dieser Publikation benannt. Die Beiträge untersuchen das Verhältnis aus unterschiedlichen theologischen, religionswissenschaftlichen und hermeneutischen Perspektiven. Im Horizont des Dialogs zwischen Christentum und Islam hat das Verhältnis von Offenbarung und Sprache Differenzen markiert. Demgegenüber sollen die Untersuchungen in diesem Band in das Zentrum einer Begegnung führen, die der Sprache der anderen einen wertschätzenden und anerkennenden Raum gibt, um so ein interreligiöses Gespräch zu öffnen, in dem Differenzen neu beleuchtet werden und sich Konvergenzen auftun können.The question of the relationship between revelation and language, the linguistic revelation of a God who remains mysterious, is the leitmotif of this publication, which examines the relationship between language and revelation from various theological, religious studies and hermeneutical perspectives. La presente publicación se ocupa, en este trasfondo, del rol de la Iglesia católica en América Latina en relación con un desarrollo liberador. Tiene su origen en un congreso que fue llevado a cabo del 19 al 23 de agosto de 2018 por el Stipendienwerk Lateinamerika-Deutschland (Intercambio Cultural Alemán Latinoamericano [Icala]) en colaboración con la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, con ocasión de la celebración de los cincuenta años de la Conferencia de Medellín. 1968 fue también un año clave para la Iglesia católica en Latinoamérica. Con el impulso de Medellín, ella ha encontrado ciertamente una nueva figura: del lado de los pobres, al servicio de la justicia y de la paz. Si se mira la historia del continente latinoamericano, el entrelazamiento de la Iglesia en el proceso de conquista, las aspiraciones coloniales de la corona española y portuguesa y luego –después de los movimientos de Independencia– las alianzas con las élites de poder político y económico de las nuevas repúblicas, este papel de la Iglesia católica no es para nada una obviedad. La Iglesia católica se ha convertido en religión como fuente para un desarrollo liberador 9 un nuevo actor social y en una institución reconocida más allá de los círculos eclesiales al servicio de la transformación social, de los derechos humanos, de un desarrollo justo y orientado a los pobres y del compromiso por la paz, recién por medio del proceso de renovación que significó el Concilio Vaticano II (1962-1965) para ella (en relación con la libertad religiosa, los derechos humanos, el diálogo ecuménico e interreligioso, las nuevas estructuras de participación, el significado de los laicos o de los movimientos sociales, etc.) y por medio de la "implementación" de esa renovación en el contexto latinoamericano a través de la II Conferencia General del Episcopado Latinoamericano en Medellín.
