The book investigates digitalisation in care for older people by giving insight into service users’ and professionals’ opportunities to digital agency in the context of European welfare states. With a focus on service users and providers experiences of digital care, the contributions address the manifold and often contradictory consequences of active ageing policies and innovation programmes. To assess digital agency of older people, ageism and co-creation in the innovation processes as well the use of digital platforms are addressed, while care professionals’ digital agency is examined through empirical cases that focus on the interaction between human and non-human actors in long-term care services, the temporality and spatiality of care, and the organisational requirements for successful implementation of digital technologies. From a variety of conceptual and theoretical viewpoints, the chapters provide a comprehensive and timely overview of ways to address the phenomena of ageing and digitalisation. The book provides critical vantage points to academic readership, health and social care professionals, policymakers, other stakeholders as well as the general audience on the effects of digitalisation in care for older people."The Open Access version of this book, available at http://www.taylorfrancis.com, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license. This book analyses how turbulence is interwoven into the everyday life of families with children, thus becoming personal and intimate. Chapter authors use empirical data to highlight the contextual and relational nature of both global and local challenges affecting families, discussing complex dynamics across health, work and the environment.Presenting insights based on cutting-edge research, contributing authors examine how diverse disruptions, which often intersect, are lived and experienced by parents and children. They cover important issues including poverty, Covid-19, working life and climate change. Chapters include micro-level explorations, focusing on accounts of turbulence within single country contexts, as well as macro-level analysis, concentrating on cross-country differences where welfare states, work and everyday family life intersect. They investigate how institutional contexts and macro-level changes influence the micro-level within the household.Families with Children in a Turbulent Era is an invaluable resource for students and researchers across a wide range of social sciences, including comparative social policy, education, social psychology, social work and family, gender and labour market studies. It is also a thought-provoking read for professionals and policymakers at the local, national and international level, as well as education and social policy administrators.

This book examines child poverty in four welfare states: Australia, New Zealand, Finland and Sweden. The recent cost-of-living crisis and stagnation of wages has led to increased social exclusion of poorer families in high-income countries. Despite numerous policy efforts to eradicate child poverty in all four countries, many children continue to find themselves living in poverty. Utilising a multidisciplinary approach, this book analyses the ways in which poverty manifests in different countries, identifies which population groups are most at risk, and assesses the successes and failures of policies aimed at tackling child poverty. It will appeal to students and scholars of public policy, public administration and social policy, as well as policymakers and practitioners trying to tackle child poverty.

This book analyses the current state-of-the-art research on families, working hours and well-being in Europe, addressing both paid and non-paid work from a family perspective, and introducing emerging issues related to working hours and family life. Further, it discusses the implications of these issues for the well-being of individuals and families. Examining topics such as the division of paid and non-paid work within families, flexibility patterns, the 24/7 society, intensification of work, and the implication of mobile technology for work–family relations, it illustrates how the experiences of working families differ depending on their socio-economic status
