'Eco-friendly' variants are rapidly gaining market share in many industries such as food, textiles, furniture, detergents and paints, automobiles, electrical appliances and domestic energy. These markets usually exhibit environmental differentiation, where consumers differ in their willingness to pay for the environmental attributes of a product. Building on the existing literature, this novel book provides a comprehensive analysis of firm strategy and environmental policy making in these types of 'green' markets. The author introduces the model of an environmentally differentiated duopoly, in order to explicitly analyse the strategic interaction within such a market. He studies in detail the effects of environmental product standards, eco-labels, 'green' R&D subsidies and environmental taxation on firm behaviour, welfare and emissions. Non-technical sections providing the empirical context expertly complement the formal theoretical analysis of environmental policy making. The author goes on to present important new conclusions for environmental policy and an agenda for future research. The Greening of Markets will be of immense interest to students and academics of environmental economics and applied industrial organisation, as well as policy makers and environmental managers.

This collection of research papers explores some of the salient issues relating to the impact of demographic change on the workings and outcomes of labour markets. A first chapter studies the direct impact of ageing on employment and unemployment. However, the age structure of the workforce also shapes productivity and the scope for innovation, issues which are taken up in turn. Furthermore, it is often argued that a decline in the size of the workforce may be offset by an increase in the workers’ skills and knowledge. The impact of demographic developments such as ageing and migration on the accumulation and transfer of human capital is, therefore, studied by a further set of contributions. The volume is rounded off with analyses relating to the supply of labour by women and by older workers. The authors ask, for instance, whether (female) labour migration as well as changes in retirement patterns and policies may counterbalance the expected workforce shrinking.

Compared to the age of our planet the time period between the invention of the wheel 5000 BC [50] and the first computers like the British "e;Colossus computer"e; or Konrad Zuse's "e;Z machine"e; is not more than a tiny moment. This development would have been impossible without directed communication, as well as sharing and storing of knowledge. The invention of the computer laid the foundation for the change from the industrial age to the today's information age. As the term "e;information"e; already implies, the economical focus in this age has changed from industrial production to information and information processing. This means that today the value of information is significant for economics and business. However, information gets a value just when it is exchanged, which makes it necessary that communication takes place. Otherwise nobody would be interested in buying or selling information. In today's business information can be exchanged in various ways. Communication can take place between people; it can be an interaction between a person and a computer or between computers only. For all these interactions communication systems are necessary. They have a wide range of structure and specification, depending on the media and contents which have to be communicated. These systems shall provide the infrastructure for an effective work which helps to save money and time and at the same time helps to remain compatible and to develop further. In the here presented diploma work I will focus on Communication Systems in Modern Business Management Structures - Needs, Requirements and Solutions . This means that I will examine needs and requirements which are set by modern companies to communication systems and which solutions are offered to them.

In seiner empirischen Studie untersucht Michael Kühn die Vorgehensweisen von Führungskräften bei der Bewältigung von krisenhaft zugespitzten Entscheidungssituationen. Hierzu erfolgt zunächst die Bestimmung, Einordnung und Ausdifferenzierung der zentralen Begriffe „Krise“, „Management“ und „Führungshandeln“. Anschließend werden die Strategien von Führungskräften bei der Bewältigung von Krisen über narrative Interviews erhoben und mithilfe der Grounded Theory ausgewertet. Die Resultate der Untersuchung führen zur Entwicklung eines Stufenmodells. Das Modell bildet die Grundlage für die Ergänzung und Erweiterung bestehender Beratungsangebote, Coachings und Trainingsprogramme in Richtung einer strukturhermeneutisch orientierten Managerweiterbildung.
