The heroes of my tales are all real people. Their names have been changed, but the stories are authentic. Some people came by themselves; some were brought to the psychiatrist, not to the writer. As far as Im concerned, I was looking for symptoms, diagnostics, and treatments, not for stories.They have biographies that were revised here and there, to protect anonymity. The heroes are living among us. They are not easy to recognize. Any one of them can be your next door neighbor or the grandfather who is reading the newspaper in the park. In the summer, when the old man wears short sleeves, you can see the number that was tattooed on his forearm in Auschwitz.Those who survived the Holocaust are becoming increasingly scarce.The agitated and crabby man who drags his wife out of the supermarket was traumatized by the war. He cannot stand the crowds and the fuss. Classic inpatients can no longer be identified at first glance anymore. Where can you find the good old psychotics?

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 18th International Symposium on Algorithmics of Wireless Network, ALGOSENSORS 2022, which took place in Potsdam, Germany in September 2022.The 10 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 21 submissions. ALGOSENSORS is an international symposium dedicated to algorithmic aspects of wireless networks.

The volume contains eight original studies, each of which focuses on a different chapter or central passage in Daniel and offers a new interpretation or reading of the passage in question. The studies span the Danielic tales and apocalypses, offering innovative analyses that often challenge the scholarly consensus regarding the exegesis of this book. The eight chapters relate to Daniel 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, Susanna, and the conception of angelology in Daniel. The studies are all based on careful textual analysis, including comparison between the Hebrew/Aramaic and Greek versions (especially regarding Daniel 4–6), and, in each case, the larger arguments are built upon solid philological foundations. Many of the insights proposed in this volume are based upon the realization that the authors of Daniel were frequently interpreters of earlier biblical books, and that the identification of these intertextual clues can be the key to unlocking the meaning of these texts. In this sense, Daniel is similar to other contemporaneous works, such as Jubilees and Qumran literature, but the extent of this phenomenon has not been fully appreciated by scholars of the book. This volume therefore contributes to the appreciation of Daniel as both the latest book in the Hebrew Bible, and a significant work in the landscape of Second Temple Judaism.

The 25 papers presented, including three short papers by invited speakers, were carefully reviewed and selected from 45 submissions. The papers all feature original research in the design, implementation and evaluation of algorithms with special focus on algorithms for combinatorial optimization problems, and to real-world applications, engineering and experimental analysis of algorithms - thus fostering the cooperation among researchers in computer science, networking, discrete mathematics, mathematical programming and operations research.

Almost all scholars have viewed the book of Jubilees as the work of a single author, applying to the book methods of analysis determined primarily by its literary genre, Rewritten Bible. This study suggests a new approach, in light of numerous contradictions between the rewritten stories on the one hand, and the juxtaposed legal passages and chronological framework on the other. It is suggested here that the editor of Jubilees adopted extant reworked sources, and added his own legal and chronological framework. This proposed literary-critical method is highly significant for the study of the book’s worldview, as is demonstrated by the analysis of passages in Jubilees that relate to the origins of evil and of law in the world.

The eighteen studies in this volume in honor of Moshe Bernstein on the occasion of his 70th birthday mostly engage with Jewish scriptural interpretation, the principal theme of Bernstein’s own research career as expressed in his collected essays, Reading and Re-Reading Scripture at Qumran (Brill, 2013). The essays develop a variety of aspects of scriptural interpretation. Although many of them are chiefly concerned with the Dead Sea Scrolls, the significant contribution of the volume as a whole is the way that even those studies are associated with others that consider the broader context of Jewish scriptural interpretation in late antiquity. As a result, a wider frame of reference for scriptural interpretation impinges upon how scripture was read and re-read in the scrolls from Qumran.
