Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2013 in the subject Engineering - Power Engineering, , course: POWER SYSTEM ENGINEERING, language: English, abstract: Breakdown behavior of a 10 mm point-sphere gap is investigated for R12, R12 (Dichlorodifluoromethane, CCL2F2), air mixtures for pressures of up to 60psi. It is shown that at high gas pressures, mixtures containing high R12 content can have breakdown voltages higher than the corresponding values in air. Furthermore, these voltages are compared with the SF6. And make a comparison of R12 and SF6 in different scenarios i.e. GWP, cost, dielectric strength. Then Ac voltage breakdown characteristics of various combinations of insulating filler in transformer oil for use in transformers were investigated, with the aim of reducing the amount of oil and thus the cost. Tests were conducted on a sphere-sphere electrode in a horizontal arrangement and a sphere-plane electrode in a vertical arrangement. The Breakdown characteristics were also investigated in a modal in which Nomex paper was inserted between filler and the high-voltage electrode. Based on the experiments, optimum conditions are proposed for the application of transformer oil to transformers. Detailed results of investigations of both gas and composite insulating oil are described and discussed in this paper.

Microcontroller is the central part of this project which is controlling all the process i.e. checking for over current, under/over voltage and starting the auxiliary motor (for load sharing) in case of overloading etc. If the motor is having under or over voltage problems then it will automatically be stopped, to protect it from any damages. The process of speed control will be done by PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technique. & lastly an advantage feature kept is the direction control of this motor.

The proposed system is made up of postpaid billing system which uses GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) to provide effective and efficient power meter reading, usage notification and distribution through wireless communication. The postpaid meter is important in making the consumer having sense about his/her energy consumption which is important in eliminating the difficulties facing the electrical utility employee in getting the reading of the conventional electromechanical meter and eliminating any error incurred in bills issuing. The designed digital meter consists of GSM module, a microcontroller, a digital meter & a wireless gateway. This proposed prototype of energy metering system comprises of two main parts; clients and server. A GSM module is used to read the ID of the SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) card. The server is located in the local substation which receives the SIM ID from clients and sends ID's information back to the client after checking and/or updating the database. Moreover the system also display the amount of energy consumed on the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). The aim of the Research Project is to develop a system which uses microcontroller as a central part to provide postpaid services, and it uses GSM to update the WAPDA (Water and Power Development Authority Pakistan) about the unit consumed with time and date. So that consumer will be aware of their usage and for provider s error occur and resources use can be reduced.

This new system uses microcontroller as a central part to sense the water through a NAND gate Integrated Circuit and inform the microcontroller. On the basis of gathered results the controller will open the solenoid valve and also will send the information to the main unit. On the main unit side this information will be displayed on the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). Where for real time monitoring a wireless camera is used which sends the real time video to the receiver side through RF (Radio Frequency) module.
