Over the past two decades, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has attained the second highest gross domestic product in the world, taken a leadership role in East Asian regional organisations and substantially improved its military capabilities. Less frequently acknowledged – but perhaps of greater significance – is the impressive congruence of Beijing’s accomplishments.
