The rise and fall of share markets, the rise and fall of bullion market, the rise and fall in the prices of commodities are carefully observed and talked of by financial experts as well as the man in the street. Kidnaps, murders, acid attacks are on the rise. The fall in human values though not presented meticulously as the rise and fall in financial matters is a common subject for scholars, businessmen, teachers, politicians, etc. But the fall in human values affects our society and breed many disorders in our life. The youth often fail to understand the importance of life and the beauty in life. To the youth life is a bag of garbage which can be disposed off at any time without second thought. The old feel that they are outcasts in the society and every minute is miserable for them. With icy looks they count their days in old age homes. Poetry, Prose, Fiction, Drama, One-Act plays are being created by a number of wonderful masters. As teachers, readers, professors and scholars of literature, let us come together and retrospect the human values reflected in the Indian Fiction in English.

Rabindranath Tagore is one of the greatest geniuses produced by India. He is a poet, dramatist, novelist, short-story writer, painter and musician, all rolled into one. His every work of art has a characteristic mark called 'Tagore'. He made the whole world feel the unique 'soul' of India. Life, love, mysticism, spirituality and Nature-all reverborate throughout his works. Tagore himself is a revolution-a great movement. The world takes centuries to understand the true spirit of Tagore. Like Valmiki, Tagore has seen the totality of life and expressed it in proper words, tunes and colours. We've brought out this book as a sincere tribute to Rabindranath Tagore during his 150th birth Anniversary Celebrations.

Indian contribution to World Drama is immense. The dramatic powers of our Indian dramatists are matchless and their experiments with stage in traditional and modern age are wonderful. At the beginning stage our dramatists had British influence. Some of our plays are covered out of mythological stories. But later dramatists like Asif Curimbhoy, Badal Sircar, Vijay Tendulkar, Mahesh Dattani, Manjula Padmanabhan, Mohan Rakesh took Indian Drama to sublime heights. Drama should be examined, analysed and our synthesis of analysis should be brought out in the form of a book which will be helpful to scholars, critics and also dramatists in future. It is high time to read, think and retrospect the creative works of the Indian Dramatists in English. We wish that the scholarly articles included in the book will open new vistas to the voyage of Indian Drama in English. We thank all the contributors for their critical and thought provoking insights into the Indian Drama in English. We pay our tributes to Badal Sircar and Vijay Tendulkar for their magical contribution to the field of drama which has left an indelible impression in the hearts of readers, critics and audience all over the world. We dedicate this book to them.
