On the auspicious occasion of Indian Science Congress 16 to 20 March 2018, we are pleased and privileged to dedicate this book to the endeavors of biodiversity Governance of India. As we all know India is very rich in biodiversity however unsustainable harvesting and illegal exploitation of large number of highly precious plants in India has raised a serious issue on the existence of hundreds of endemic plants and animals. Literally hundreds of books, articles, and reports were written and scores of symposia, workshops, meeting and seminars were organized to publicize the fact that the Earth s biological diversity was decreasing. Locally and internationally financed programs to conserve biodiversity were implemented. To promise these new efforts, however is tempered by the reality of the situation. The successes and failure of conservation efforts over the last decade have demonstrated that the erosion of biological diversity can be stopped only through novel and complex mixtures of economic, social and political actions based on a sound knowledge of ecosystems, including the role of the people who live there. Although we know a great deal about the causes of biodiversity lose, we are only beginning to understand how to formulate development strategies that are based on and simultaneously conserve biological diversity. Most people want to protect wild life and natural resources but do not know how best to act. At the same time there is a great urgency to act. We are thankful to all the authors and other contributors for giving their valuable time and data. They are responsible for the work presented in the paper and if any plagiarism question arises they are answerable. The 1st author or corresponded author has to take responsibility. The editors are not responsible for above issues. We are thankful to ISCA, Kolkata, ISCA President, General Secretaries , ISCA Executive Committee Members, and office bearers of the Indian Science Congress held at Manipur University, Imphal, Manipur from March 16 to 20, 2018 for encouraging us to hold symposium with focal themes, REACHING THE UNRECAHED . We extend our sincere thanks to all contributors who have contributed their articles for publications in these proceedings. This book will be very useful for researchers, scientists, students and all such entrepreneurs who are working in the field of public health.

The proceedings of this book describe an attempt for interaction by the juxtaposition of researchers in aquaculture that provided an opportunity for presentations, discussion, and interaction of mutual benefit to the readers. It is hoped that the book- CONTEMPORARY TRENDS IN FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE accompany recommendations on future work and research priorities with a modest but useful steps toward supporting the safe and sustainable expansion of aquaculture in developing countries. Much more research is needed and this will require an increased commitment of resources.

Health is like wealth, we never have a true idea of its value until we lose it. The goal of Health science is the improvement of human and animal health through scientific research. Health science encompasses a variety of sub-disciplines all of which relate to the application of science to health. The traditional, western and alternative medicine can be considered in Health science. Because human have always needed to deal with illness, it could be said that Health science has existed for as long as humans have. The field includes the study of medicine, nutrition and other health related issues and the affect they may have on both humans and animals. This book is aimed for researchers; many issues of health and disease management are addressed in this book. The contents of this book are divided into 28 chapters based on the research going on in current health sciences. Some of the authors have elaborated the forms of diseases such as diabetes, cervical cancer, bovine mastitis etc. Authors shared their knowledge on the phytocompounds for the treatment of diseases-effect of antimicrobial activity with Probiotics, synthesis of peptides substitutes, polyherbal formulation for direutic activity, herbal antihelmintics action of Resveratreole in rats, gene characterization of cellulase from lactobacillus sps, Heavy metal activity in rats. The role of medicinal plants in treatment or control of dengue fever, pyretic infection in rats, anti-cancer compounds of certain fruits, studies on leaf extract for treating diabetes in rats and a brief explanation on antimicrobial peptides. Some chapters dealt with environmental issues involving invertebrates. The works in this book are not blindly supporting in the disease management and should not use them for medical treatment. However it will pave the way for new discoveries.

The proportion of Reached to Unreached tilts heavily towards the latter in our country. In spite of the fact that we have achieved great strides of innovativeness in space, digital and agricultural technology, the population under the poverty line is still alarmingly high. There are plans and programms designed and launched to promote inclusive development. Obviously the effort is not adequate. Abdul Kalams dream of PURA is still unfulfilled. It is time we rise to the occasion. The book that is being conceived to be brought out addresses the issue to usher in sustainable development for the wellbeing of the society both urban and rural through application of advances in Life Sciences, Animal, Veterinary and Fisheries sciences in particular. The editors need to be complimented for putting together a bunch of articles in diverse fields of life sciences with a common goal of health of the society. The articles ranging from antimicrobials, antivirals, fish and dairy management, rodent control, mosquito control, biodiversity including invasive alien species and their impact. The book is good for teachers, researchers and students equally. The whole effort supports the concept of unity in Diversity. The article on obesity in students is a warning bell to youth to think in terms of yoga and other health practices in order to be able to live up to the adage Healthy body houses a Healthy mind.
