'I promise that you have never read a book like Canon. It's a scorchingly brilliant, wildly funny, and deeply moving epic. I loved it so much that upon finishing Canon, I immediately began rereading it' - JOHN GREEN'The funniest, most immersive book I have read in a long time . . . Truly original, brimming with humour, beauty, heartbreak, magic and sharp language that will strike you deep down in your soul' - DANEZ SMITH'An unprecedented page-turner . . . keenness, kindness, associative brilliance, storytelling authority, and crow-black humour make every line of this utterly singular novel a surprise and a delight . . . Canon filled me with overwhelming joy, joy that such an extraordinary story exists' - KAREN RUSSELL'I did not know how badly I needed a funny epic in my life, didn't know how both funny and epic a novel could be. This book is why I love novels, why I love reading. It is not only structurally pristine and brilliant, but a page-turner, and a profound meditation on the meaning of this human journey we are on alone, together. It is truly and thoroughly hilarious, and tender, and beautiful' - TOMMY ORANGE'I keep staring at the words I've written to try and describe this novel; words like warm and hilarious and earnest and gorgeous and deeply weird. But none of them really capture its unique brand of magic or Lewis' singular voice. Perhaps it's hard to find the language because that's what Canon does: gives us new language' - CARMEN MARIA MACHADOThis is a story of two prophets.Yara can't comprehend why God has chosen them to slay Dominic, the ruthless leader of the army of Bad Guys. Cast out by their family and reeling from a destructive relationship, Yara has never felt weaker; but with nothing to lose, they reluctantly strike a deal and Yara embarks on a perilous odyssey designed to prepare them for the daunting mission ahead.Meanwhile Adrena, a disillusioned prophet with a terrifying secret power, is determined to become the hero of this story. Desperately seeking the glory of God's approval and the promise of heaven, Adrena must first persuade Harpo, the leader of the army of Good Guys, that her plan is God's will.As their journeys unfold in a series of unforgettable adventures, Yara and Adrena are propelled toward each other and transformative revelations about life, death, and destiny in this intensely captivating, irreverent epic from a singularly brilliant new voice in fiction.

Tillfälligt slut
"Must-Read Poetry: October 2019" by Nick Ripatrazone, The Millions“Best Books of 2019,” Book RiotThis astonishing, self-assured debut leads us on an exploration to the stars and back, begging us to reconsider our boundaries of self, time, space, and knowledge. The speaker writes, “…the universe/is an arrow/without end/and it asks only one question;/How dare you?”Zig-zagging through the realms of nature, science, and religion, one finds St. Francis sighing in the corner of a studio apartment, tides that are caused by millions of oysters “gasping in unison,” an ark filled with women in its stables, and prayers that reach God fastest by balloon. There’s pathos: “When my new lover tells me I’m correct to love him, I/realize the sound isn’t metal at all. It’s not the coins rattling/ on concrete, but the fingers scraping to pick them up.” And humor, too: “…even the sun’s been sighing Not you again/when it sees me.” After reading this far-reaching, inventive collection, we too are startled, space struck, our pockets gloriously “filled with space dust.”"Online, month by month, I watched it happen: a new genre of poem was emerging, but I had no clue who was responsible. These brainy poems didn't wait to spout off trivia, historical and scientific—'Pavlov Was the Son of a Priest' (a characteristically quotable title) recalls that 'the moon smells like spent gunpowder,' then divulges some smoldering self-knowledge: 'I'm sorry/I couldn't hide my joy when you said lonely.' . . . [T]hese poems were fluent in funniness, retweetably jokey: 'I'm//the vice president of panic, and the president is/missing.' But once the play subsided, you found yourself moved—unaccountably, almost, until you discovered, reading back up the poem, that even the zaniest elements had several parts to play. What looked like a genre, I soon realized, was all the handiwork of one poet. Their name is Paige Lewis. . . . Don't doubt them."-—Christopher Spaide, Poetry
