Die Darstellung des aktuellen Wissenstandes oraler Erkrankungen ist Hauptanliegen des vorliegenden Lehrbuches. Das erste Kapitel zur allgemeinen Pathologie behandelt ausführlich das für Zahnmediziner besonders wichtige Thema der Entzündungslehre. Es folgen Kapitel zu Tumoren und tumorartigen Läsionen der Mundschleimhaut, zu Erkrankungen der Haut, die in ähnlicher Form auch in der Mundschleimhaut auftreten können, sowie zu systemischen Erkrankungen, Erkrankungen der Speicheldrüsen, Zahn- und Kieferzysten, odontogenen Tumoren und Erkrankungen der Knochen.
