Architecture Description Languages is an essential reference for both academic and professional researchers in the field of system engineering and design.  The papers presented in this volume were selected from the workshop of the same name that was held as part of the World Computer Congress 2004 Conference, held in Toulouse, France in August 2004.  This collection presents significant research and innovative developments and applications from both academic researchers and industry practitioners on topics ranging from Semantics to Tool and Development Environments.

The aim of an ADL is to formally describe software and hardware architectures.  Usually, an ADL describes components, their interfaces, their structures, their interactions (structure of data flow and control flow) and the mappings to hardware systems.  A major goal of such description is to allow analysis with respect to several aspects like timing, safety, reliability. The papers in this state-of-the-art volume cover such topics of interest as components, connectors, composition; semantics and formalization; verification, simulation and test; tools and development environments; standardization; industrial projects.

To encourage closer interaction between academic and industrial networking research communities, the workshop welcomed academic research papers as well as industrial contributions, and both are included here.  Which makes this collection important not only for ADL experts and researchers, but also for all teachers and administrators interested in ADL.

This textbook provides a comprehensive introduction to the physics of laser-plasma interactions (LPI), based on a graduate course taught by the author. The emphasis is on high-energy-density physics (HEDP) and inertial confinement fusion (ICF), with a comprehensive description of the propagation, absorption, nonlinear effects and parametric instabilities of high energy lasers in plasmas.

The recent demonstration of a burning plasma on the verge of nuclear fusion ignition at the National Ignition Facility in Livermore, California, has marked the beginning of a new era of ICF and fusion research. These new developments make LPI more relevant than ever, and the resulting influx of new scientists necessitates new pedagogical material on the subject. In contrast to the classical textbooks on LPI, this book provides a complete description of all wave-coupling instabilities in unmagnetized plasmas in the kinetic as well as fluid pictures, and includes a comprehensive description of the optical smoothing techniques used on high-power lasers and their impact on laser-plasma instabilities. It summarizes all the key developments from the 1970s to the present day in view of the current state of LPI and ICF research; it provides a derivation of the key LPI metrics and formulas from first principles, and connects the theory to experimental observables.

With exercises and plenty of illustrations, this book is ideal as a textbook for a course on laser-plasma interactions or as a supplementary text for graduate introductory plasma physics course. Students and researchers will also find it to be an invaluable reference and self-study resource.

Walter Zimmermann (né en 1949) est indéniablement une figure qui fascine et s’impose par sa démarche nomade dans le panorama des musiques d’aujourd’hui. Pianiste de formation, il fonda en 1977 le Beginner Studio à Cologne où furent données de nombreuses œuvres de musique expérimentale, telles celles de Morton Feldman. Parallèlement à son ancrage dans les musiques savantes et à ses préoccupations théoriques et philosophiques, il a montré un intérêt durable pour d’autres traditions culturelles, voire des expressions régionales.Ce premier ouvrage français consacré à ce compositeur est issu d’un colloque international organisé à Strasbourg en 2018, dont l’objectif était de scruter les liens étroits entre mathématiques et musique, notamment par le biais de la philosophie, les questions d’écriture ou de composition, d’intonation, et les liens fondamentaux de ces musiques avec la poésie de diverses époques.
