In a sub-Saharan context, Mauritius is a remarkable success story. In less than a generation it has been transformed from a monocrop, low income per capita economy to a diversified middle income economy. This text arises from a collaboration between the University of Mauritus and the University of Nottingham, and provides a detailed analysis of the main aspects of the Mauritian Economy including microeconomic topics, macroeconomic policy questions and external trade and international issues.
