This textbook offers a comprehensive introduction to both the foundational and intermediate concepts of statistics, catering to students, researchers, and professionals across various disciplines such as science, agriculture, business, and social sciences. It begins with the basics of descriptive statistics, introducing key measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) and variation (range, variance, standard deviation) that help summarize and understand data.Building on these fundamentals, the book explores the principles of probability theory and probability distributions, including binomial, Poisson, and normal distributions. It then transitions to the concept of sampling distributions, which form the basis for making inferences about population parameters.A significant portion of the book is dedicated to hypothesis testing, covering tests for means, proportions, and variances. This includes z-tests, t-tests, and chi-square tests for both goodness-of-fit and independence of attributes. The text also provides a strong foundation in the design of experiments, presenting classical methods such as Completely Randomized Design (CRD), Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), and Latin Square Design, which are essential for conducting effective and reliable experiments. Further, it includes the Complete Factorial Experiment, allowing readers to analyze the interaction between multiple factors. The final chapters introduce multivariate statistical techniques, equipping readers with tools to analyze data involving multiple variables simultaneouslycrucial in modern data-driven research.Throughout, the book emphasizes application, clarity, and interpretation, making statistical methods accessible and practical. With worked examples, illustrations, and real-world relevance, it serves as a valuable resource for learning and applying statistical concepts in academic and professional settings.

Design thinking has emerged as one of the most powerful approaches for innovation, problem-solving, and value creation across industries. At its core lies the human instinct for inventionan instinct that has shaped civilizations since ancient times. Throughout history, people have generated ideas rooted in both factual observations and creative imagination, producing inventions that enhance comfort, improve efficiency, and contribute to societal progress. This book explores that journey of invention and channels it into a structured methodology for modern challenges. By understanding how earlier discoveries were made, design teams can gain insight into ideation, experimentation, user-centric design, and iterative improvement. The text emphasizes the importance of unconventional thinking, critical analysis, and process optimization to develop products and solutions that deliver maximum customer value.Written in a simple, accessible style, the book helps learners grasp the fundamentals of creativity, design thinking principles, and practical tools like Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and Value Engineering. Real-world case studies further illustrate how design thinking is applied in contemporary problem contexts. Whether you are a student, researcher, entrepreneur, or industry professional, this book will build the foundational skills needed for innovative thinking and efficient design processes.KEY FEATURESThe major topics of this text include the following.History of inventionsCreativityBasic of design ThinkingProcess Design Thinking using Business Process ReengineeringValue Engineering/ Analysis A Means for Design ThinkingCase Studies of Design ThinkingThis text is written in easy-to-read style.
