Randy Jurado Ertll – författare

Randy Jurado Ertll's new non-fiction book In The Struggle: Chronicles depicts the struggles and triumphs of community members who are seeking to be heard and seen. Ertll writes the chronicles of the invisible in our society. He provides a voice through his columns and in-depth political analysis. This extraordinary book provides a concrete road map of social justice issues, that have taken place, within the last 20 years. Randy Jurado Ertll formerly served as communications director/legislative assistant on Capitol Hill to former U.S. Rep. Hilda Solis. He is the co-founder and currently serves as the executive director for the California Latino Environmental Advocacy Network (CLEAN). It is the first Latino-founded and led, statewide, environmental protection nonprofit. He also teaches at various public school districts. He is a newspaper columnist and has published op-eds in the Los Angeles Times, La Opinión, Daily News, Houston Chronicle, San Diego Union-Tribune, La Prensa Grafica, The Progressive Magazine, Pasadena Star-News, Pasadena Weekly and over 100 other newspapers throughout the United States, El Salvador, Philippines, Mexico and Canada. He has been interviewed by networks and other media outlets such as NPR, CNN, PBS, AFP, EFE, AP, BBC, Christian Science Monitor, Univisión, and Telemundo. He has published three nonfiction books through Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group. Book titles are Hope in Times of Darkness: A Salvadoran American Experience, Esperanza en Tiempos de Oscuridad: La Experiencia de un Salvadoreno Americano, and The Life of an Activist: In the Frontlines 24/7. He recently published his first novel titled The Lives and Times of El Cipitio. Spanish language edition titled La Vida y los Tiempos de El Cipitio. The novel will be made into a play by the nationally recognized theater troupe Culture Clash. He is a proud Occidental College alumnus and obtained his master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University. He recently received the Occidental College Seal Award for Service to the Community. His other books are best sellers, they have been adopted in various colleges/universities, and public schools. El Cipitío leaves El Salvador, his home country. El Cipitío is a mythical, ten-year old kid who is three feet tall. He wears a big hat and has a small belly. His feet are backwards, he can teleport, and he has eternal life. He sacrifices to come to the United States. He struggles in school, he learns English, and succeeds. He become a community leader, decides to run for mayor and president of the United States. 

El Cipitío deja El Salvador, su país de origen. El Cipitío es un niño mítico de 10 años que mide tres pies de alto, usa un sombrero grande y tiene una barriguita. Sus pies están al revés mirando hacia atrás, él puede teletransportarse, y también tiene vida eterna. El Cipitio se sacrifica para llegar a Estados Unidos. Lucha en la escuela, aprende ingles, y tiene exito en sus estudios. Se convierte en un lider, decide correr para alcalde y presidente de Estados Unidos. 

EL CADEJO ENTRE EL BIEN Y EL MAL

El Cadejo es un perro mítico y surrealista que ha existido durante siglos en América Central, el sur de México y otras partes de América Latina, y aún continúa viajando por el mundo. En realidad, son dos tipos de perros: el Cadejo Negro y el Cadejo Blanco, que representan la eterna lucha del Bien contra el Mal. Esta criatura legendaria es eterna, y a través de su historia se describen temas culturales y desarrollan conflictos de razas, intrigantes problemáticas políticas e históricas que vienen desde la Conquista y la Colonización, luchas contra los indígenas. Y todo dentro de un ambiente de magia y surrealismo, en el que resalta la propagación del coronavirus y el afán por encontrar la vacuna contra esta terrible enfermedad que azota el mundo.

A lo largo de la novela, el Duende desafía a su propio padre, quien es el Cadejo en su version malévola. El Duende es un niño prodigio de diez años que surgió en un pequeño pueblo rural de El Salvador, donde amaba y admiraba las plantas, entre ellas la flor de izote y el chipilín. Con estas plantas crea la vacuna para prevenir y curar la COVID-19. Su hermano gemelo, el Cipitío, ha sido presidente de los Estados Unidos y su madre ha logrado ya convertirse en la primera mujer papisa, que ahora vive en el Vaticano, donde hace sopa de chipilín y flor de izote con huevos revueltos.

Con este libro se completa la trilogía de esta saga, que incluye Las vida y los tiempos del Cipitio, parte 1; La Siguanaba y el loroco mágico, parte 2; El Cadejo entre el Bien y el Mal, parte 3.

Estas novelas estan dedicadas a celebrar la cultura latinoamericana y a mantener las raíces de nuestros orígenes indígenas, la ascendencia afrohispana y nunca olvidar ni negar nuestra ancestros mayas. Esta novela es un viaje surrealista llena de folclore y humor.

RACE WARS: EL CADEJO

Who is El Cadejo? He is a legendary, mythical, surrealist dog that has existed for centuries in Central America, Southern Mexico, other parts of Latin America, and he continues to travel the world.

There is El Cadejo Negro and El Cadejo Blanco. They represent the eternal fight of good versus evil. El Cadejo is eternal. This book describes issues of Race, Politics, History, Culture, Colonization, Indigenous Culture, Surrealism, and COVID-19.

Throughout the novel, El Duende challenges his own father El Cadejo. El Duende develops the vaccine to prevent and cure COVID-19. El Duende is a ten-year-old, prodigy kid who came from a small rural village in El Salvador where he loved and admired the Flor de Izote and El Chipilin plants. His twin brother, El Cipitio, has already served as president of the United States and his mother became the first female Pope. She now lives in the Vatican where she makes Sopa de Chipilin and Flor de Izote con huevos revueltos.

El Cipitio book series includes The Lives and Times of El Cipitio Part 1, La Siguanaba and the Magical Loroco Part 2, and now Race Wars: El Cadejo Part 3. Completing a trilogy saga that includes the main characters of El Cipitio, El Duende, La Siguanaba, and El Cadejo.
