Concrete is a global material that underwrites commercial wellbeing and social development. There is no substitute that can be used on the same engineering scale and its sustainability, exploitation and further development are imperatives to creating and maintaining a healthy economy and environment worldwide. The pressure for change and improvement of performance is relentless and necessary. Concrete must keep evolving to satisfy the increasing demands of all its users. These six volumes are the proceedings of the International Challenges of Concrete Construction Congress held in September 2002 with contributions from many of the world's leading authorities in this field.

Concrete is at something of a crossroads: there are many opportunities and some threats. For those opportunities to change into beneficial practice, engineers, material scientists, architects manufacturers and suppliers must focus on the changes that are required to champion concrete and maintain its dominance within the global construction industry. The Concrete Technology Unit (CTU) of the University of Dundee organised this Congress to address these changes, under the theme Global Construction: Ultimate Concrete Opportunities 5-7 July 2005.The three-day International Congress consisted of ten Events:Use of Foamed Concrete in Construction forms the Proceedings of Event 6 and deals with issues such as materials, properties and production characteristics, specification for foamed concrete, applications and case studies.

Skickas inom 5-8 vardagar
Smart Concrete (ICE Themes) brings together fascinating insights into this new and evolving field of concrete. In defining smart concrete as concrete that is capable of responding automatically to the actions imposed upon it, research has sought to develop concrete that is stronger, more sustainable and resilient. This assists the construction industry with improved whole life performance of concrete structures. With ICE Publishing material collated from key subject matter experts working in the field of concrete, Smart Concrete (ICE Themes) reveals how the field has evolved and shows how smart concrete may be used in the future. It offers readers with a view of the key developments that have impacted the evolution of smart concrete such asself-curing concreteself-healing concretecementitious materialssensor monitoring. This book, which has been compiled by two leading experts in the field, will make an ideal addition to any library as a resource for researchers and students seeking an overview of the latest research on this topic.
Low Carbon Concrete

Inbunden, Engelska, 2019
1 950 kr
Skickas inom 5-8 vardagar
ICE Themes Low Carbon Concrete offers an overview of the research and developments that have taken place in this area of concrete technology. Producing concrete with a minimal carbon footprint has become the focus of numerous research projects in order to find sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives to current concrete varieties. The book has been created from research published by ICE Publishing and it provides readers with the key topics of discussion on low carbon concrete. The chapters are practical in nature and highlight the nature of research on low carbon concrete that has taken place.ICE Themes Low Carbon Concrete includes information on:waste to new generation of cementitious materialsblended cementsemerging cementsuse of nano-materialsgeopolymersdurability and sustainability performanceThe book, which has been compiled from the research published by ICE Publishing, is an ideal source of information for those seeking to gain an overview of the latest from the work that has been undertaken on low carbon concrete.
Self-Compacting Concrete
AvRavindra K Dhir,Chao Qun Lye
Inbunden, Engelska, 2019
1 950 kr
Skickas inom 5-8 vardagar
Self-Compacting Concrete (ICE Themes) provides information on the key research undertaken in developing this most logical and practical advancement in the field of concrete technology. Self-compacting concrete is commonly, highly flowable, with ability to negotiate through tight openings without blocking, while remaining homogeneous and stable in the fresh state. These characteristics have led to global research into self-compacting concrete that is demonstrated in this book. This volume reveals the wide range of materials that have been used in designing a self-compacting concrete mix including the use of common cements, fly ashes and nanoparticles, natural aggregates, lightweight aggregates and recycled and secondary aggregates amongst others. Self-Compacting Concrete (ICE Themes) includes coverage ofhistory, development and overviewdesigning self-compacting concreteinfluence from constituent materialsfresh and hardened properties of self-compacting concreteuse of self-compacting concrete in structural concretehandling of self-compacting concrete. This book has been compiled using the information published by ICE Publishing and highlights the research undertaken. It would make an ideal addition to any library as a resource for researchers seeking an overview of the latest work on this topic.
