This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Information Security Practice and Experience, ISPEC 2021, held in Nanjing, China, in December 2021.The 23 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 94 submissions. The conference focus on new information security technologies, including their applications and their integration with IT systems in various vertical sectors.

As a fast-evolving new area, RFID security and privacy has quickly grown from a hungry infant to an energetic teenager during recent years. Much of the exciting development in this area is summarized in this book with rigorous analyses and insightful comments. In particular, a systematic overview on RFID security and privacy is provided at both the physical and network level. At the physical level, RFID security means that RFID devices should be identified with assurance in the presence of attacks, while RFID privacy requires that RFID devices should be identified without disclosure of any valuable information about the devices. At the network level, RFID security means that RFID information should be shared with authorized parties only, while RFID privacy further requires that RFID information should be shared without disclosure of valuable RFID information to any honest-but-curious server which coordinates information sharing. Not only does this book summarize the past, but it also provides new research results, especially at the network level. Several future directions are envisioned to be promising for advancing the research in this area.

PKC2004wasthe7thInternationalWorkshoponPracticeandTheoryinPublic Key Cryptography and was sponsored by IACR, the International Association for Cryptologic Research (www. iacr. org). This year the workshop was organized 2 in cooperation with the Institute for Infocomm Research (I R), Singapore. There were 106 paper submissions from 19 countries to PKC 2004. That is the highest submission number in PKC history. Due to the large number of submissionsandthehighqualityofthe submittedpapers,notallthepapersthat contained new ideas were accepted. Of the 106 submissions, 32 were selected for the proceedings. Each paper was sent to at least 3 members of the Program Committee for comments. The revised versions of the accepted papers were not checked for correctness of their scienti?c aspects and the authors bear the full responsibility for the contents of their papers. Some authors will write ?nal versions of their papers for publication in refereed journals. This volume contains the Research Track proceedings of the Second Information Security Practice and Experience Conference 2006 (ISPEC 2006), which took place in Hangzhou, China, April 11–14, 2006. The inaugural ISPEC 2005 was held exactly one year earlier in Singapore. As applications of information security technologies become pervasive, issues pertaining to their deployment and operations are becoming increasingly imp- tant. ISPEC is an annual conference that brings together researchers and pr- titioners to provide a con?uence of new information security technologies, their applications and their integration with IT systems in various vertical sectors. ISPEC 2006 received 307 submissions. This is probably the highest number of paper submissions in any information security-related technical conferences. Due to this exceptionally large number of submissions and the high quality of the submitted papers, not all the papers that contained innovative ideas could be accepted. Each paper was sent to at least three Program Committee m- bers for comments. Based on the reviewers’ comments and discussion by the Program Committee, of the 307 submissions, 35 were selected for inclusion in these proceedings as research track papers and another 21 papers were selected as industrial track papers and are published in the Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University (Science).
