Die Frage nach der Integration von Zuwanderern wird in der Arbeit in zwei Richtungen gestellt: Welchen Beitrag leisten Migranten zur gelingenden oder misslingenden Integration? Und welche Rolle spielen die Institutionen und Politiken der Aufnahmeländer für erfolgreiche oder weniger erfolgreiche Integration? Mit diesem Ansatz wird die übliche Dualisierung vermieden, nach der Integrationsprobleme einseitig auf Seiten der Zuwanderer bzw. auf der Seite der Aufnahmegesellschaft gesucht werden.
