In today's rapidly changing global work environment, all workers experience increased organizational complexity. Companies are functionally distributed, many across the globe. Intense competition for markets and margins makes adaptiveness and innovation imperative. Information and communication technologies are pervasive and fundamental infrastructures, their use deeply integrated into work processes. Workers collaborate electronically with co-workers or with employees of other companies. New boundaries of time, space, business unit, culture, company partnerships, and software tools are driving the adoption of novel organizational forms. On a macro level, these changes have started to reshape society. This book considers possible frameworks for understanding virtuality and virtualization; ways of analyzing virtual work in terms of work processes; group processes within virtual teams; the role of knowledge in virtual settings and other implications of the role of fiction in structuring virtuality.

Der Sammelband beleuchtet die Rolle von „Landschaft“ für den Tagestourismus und die Naherholung aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive. Es geht um Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen Naherholung und Tagestourismus aus Sicht von Tourismuswissenschaft, Geographie, Regional-, Stadt- und Landschaftsplanung sowie Architektur und Landschaftsarchitektur. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf Landschaften in Ballungsräumen und deren Übergänge in den ländlichen Raum. Zugrunde gelegt wird daher kein klassischer normativer Landschaftsbegriff, sondern ein erweiterter Zugang, der Stadtlandschaften, Industrie- und Infrastrukturlandschaften mit einbezieht. Tagestourismus und Naherholung haben eine hohe Bedeutung für den Erholungswert – gerade im Spannungsfeld zwischen urbanen und ländlichen Räumen (Stichwort „Stadt-Land-Ausgleich“). Dies bedingt vielfältige Wechselwirkungen in Quell- und Zielgebieten. So ist der städtische Raum regelmäßig kultureller Erholungs- und Konsumraum für die Bevölkerung ländlicher Räume und die „Landschaft“ aktivitätsbezogener Erholungsraum auch für Bevölkerungsgruppen aus dem Stadtgebiet bzw. dem Ballungsraum. Aus diesem Spannungsfeld ergeben sich vielfältige Anforderungen und Wahrnehmungsaspekte, die in diesem Sammelband interdisziplinär und praxisnah beleuchtet werden.Der Sammelband entstand im Kontext des Verbundforschungsprojekts ‚Nachhaltiges Tourismuskonzept für Hanau und den westlichen Teil des Main-Kinzig-Kreises im Kontext des Regionalparks RheinMain‘ (NaTourHuKi), das vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) im Rahmen der BMBF-Fördermaßnahme „Stadt-Land-Plus“ gefördert wurde (Februar 2020 bis Januar 2025).
