An interdisciplinary reader exploring issues related to diversity, multiculturalism, and social justice.Diversity, Multiculturalism and Social Justice is a multidisciplinary reader for undergraduates taking courses in a wide variety of topics in Multicultural and Diversity Studies, International Studies, Minority and Ethnic Studies, Women's Studies, African American Studies, African Studies, and Africana Studies. Following the introductory chapters where concepts in diversity, multiculturalism, and social justice are defined and explained in light of Iris M. Young's "Five Faces of Oppression," the authors present their original works, which consist of local and case studies from Africa and the United States, to fill in some gaps in the literature on cross-national perspectives on diversity and multicultural issues. The book is informed by the contributors' interdisciplinary training in international studies, political science, and geography, and it is enriched by their teaching, research, and community-based experiences. It is a well-conceptualized and accessible volume that will serve as an excellent interdisciplinary supplement to discipline-specific text books.
