Swami Vivekananda''s inspiring personality was well known both in lndia and in America during the last decade of the nineteenth century and the first decade of the twentieth. The unknown monk of lndia suddenly leapt into fame at the Parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893, at which he represented Hinduism. His vast knowledge of Eastern and Western culture as well as his deep spiritual insight, fervid eloquence, brilliant conversation, broad human sympathy, colourful personality, and handsome figure made an irresistible appeal to the many types of Americans who came in contact with him. People who saw or heard Vivekananda even once still cherish his memory after a lapse of more than half a century. In America Vivekananda''s mission was the interpretation of lndia''s spiritual culture, especially in its Vedantic setting. He also tried to enrich the religious consciousness of the Americans through the rational and humanistic teachings of the Vedanta philosophy. In America he became lndia''s spiritual ambassador and pleaded eloquently for better understanding between lndia and the New World in order to create a healthy synthesis of East and West, of religion and science. This encylopaedia attempts to inform the reader accurately about his life both before and after his historic visits to the west. Much material has been translated a new from original Bengali books. At the same time it challenges current popular and piousnotions held about this humanitarian-monk. The chapters in this book are about his meetings with Sri Ramakrishna, his travels in lndia during 1886-1893, media waves about him in lndia, and his triumphant return from the west in 1897. Analysis of original eyewitness reports in both lndian and western newspapers and periodicals forms an integral part of this biography.

This publication titled "International Encyclopaedia of World Nations & Nationalities" is a scholarly attempt devoted to the study of ethnicity and nationalism among contemporary world nations. These reference books will be helpful to students, scholars, doctoral candidates, policy analysts, NGO practitioners, etc. interested in the nationalizing studies. This publication provides unique resources for understanding the history and contemporary issues in these lands. A nation is a human cultural and social community. In as much as most members never meet each other, yet feel a common bond, it may be considered an imagined community. Nationality is a relationship between a person and their state of origin, culture, association, affiliation and/or loyalty. Nationality affords the state jurisdiction over the person, and affords the person the protection of the state. It provides readers with a complete overview of the said subject. This "International Encyclopaedia of World Nations & Nationalities" consists ten volumes and serves the purpose of an up-to-date reference book on the said subject, besides giving detailed acronym, glossary and bibliography. By adopting a name-wise approach, the publication has become a user-friendly tool for readers for further research and publication. The Indian Administrative Year Book may broadly be divided into two parts. The first part is historical and evolutionary. The second part is closely focused on the year 1990 and gives an account of administrative happenings in the calendar year. The work begins with an historical account of the development of the administrative system of India since the earlier days of the East India Company till the end of 1969. Chapter 2 traces the growth of the civil services from the days of the Writers uptil the year preceding 1990. The first two chapters are brief, succinctly written and are to the point capturing what are considered to be the significant landmarks in the administrative and civil service developments in India. Nearly an equal amount of space has been devoted to the period under Raj and that since Independence. Chapter 3 is the Survey which is in the form of a over-view of 1990 recapitulating its major events. The events highlighted are principally administrative but also features current political realities: topics like the coalition government and the minority government are covered in the volume interlocked as these are with administration. This chapter is deeply analytical and evaluational and is cast in futuristic perspective. The chapter that follows is in the format and nature of an Administrative Diary. Care is taken to tap as large a field as feasible. Leading administrative events are discussed one by one. In Chapter 5 each event is discussed competently and analytically, Chapter 6 gives the summaries of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India''s reports submitted in the year 1990. This is followed by a chapter devoted to judicial and administrative tribunal decisions on issues directly bearing on administration. It emerges from the above that The Indian Administrative Year Book is a pioneering work and an invaluable contribution to Public Administration. Authored by a distinguished scholar and today, a familiar name in the discipline the work cannot be missed by a serious student of the subject. It is an indispensable handbook for policy-makers and planners no less for the general readers interested in the joys and responsibilities of a meaningful civic life. It should be an indispensable text equally for the students and teachers of Public Administration and Political Science and for those preparing for the country''s civil service competitive examinations.

Nanotechnology offers the unprecedented and paradigm-changing opportunity to study and interact with normal and cancer cells in real time, at the molecular and cellular scales, and during the earliest stages of the cancer process. Through the concerted development of nanoscale devices or devices with nanoscale materials and components, the NCI Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer will facilitate in near future their integration within the existing cancer research infrastructure. Nanotechnology is manipulating matter at nanometer level and the application of the same to medicine is called nanomedicine. Nanotechnology holds promise for advanced diagnostics, targeted drug delivery, and biosensors. In the long-term, medical nanorobots will allow instant pathogen diagnosis and extermination, individual cell surgery in vivo, and improvement of natural physiological function. Nanotechnology is expected to have a dramatic impact on medicine. The application of nanotechnology for treatment, diagnosis, monitoring, and control of biological systems is now often referred to as nanomedicine. Among many possible applications of nanotechnology in medicine, the use of various nanomaterials as pharmaceutical delivery systems for drugs, DNA, and imaging agents has gained increasing attention. Many varieties of nanoparticles are available, such as different polymeric and metal nanoparticles, liposomes, niosomes, solid lipid particles, micelles, quantum dots, dendrimers, microcapsules, cells, cell ghosts, lipoproteins, and different nanoassemblies. The book will serve as an ultimate resource book for everyone who would like to know the wide range of prospects in the emerging applications of Nanotechnology for Cancer Therapy.
