Despite the family resemblances, they have created a separate branch of images of divinity, in line with philosophy’s claims to universal, independent explanations. In this analysis of metaphors of the divine, referring to the metaphorology of Hans Blumenberg and historical semantics, the concept of the God of the philosophers becomes clear and distinct.
