Dabei werden neben den Mietwagen als wichtigstem Verkehrsmittel auch das Caravaning, die Vermietung von Fahrrädern und der Kraftradtourismus betrachtet. Die Autoren zeigen dazu sowohl wesentliche Definitionen und Abgrenzungen, gesetzliche Grundlagen und Verbände als auch Betrachtungen des Marktes und der Marktteilnehmer auf. Weiterhin erfolgen für den Bereich der Mietwagen eine Branchenstrukturanalyse, eine umfassende Darstellung wichtiger Managementaufgaben (Beschaffung, Logistik und Verwertung von Fahrzeugen) sowie eine ausführliche Betrachtung des Marketings von Mietwagenunternehmen. The book pursues a comprehensive approach: important modeling issues are treated, appropriate weak formulations are derived, level set and finite element discretization techniques are analyzed, efficient iterative solvers are investigated, implementational aspects are considered and the results of numerical experiments are presented.
