This proceedings book presents the outcomes of the VII International Scientific Conference “Digital Transformation of the Economy: Challenges, Trends, New Opportunities”, which took place in Samara, Russian Federation, on April 26–27, 2019. Organized by the Samara State University of Economics, the conference chiefly focused on digital economy issues, such as theoretical preconditions for the development of economic systems in the digital age and specific practical issues related to real-world business practice.

Consisting of six chapters corresponding to the thematic areas of the conference, and written by scientists and practitioners from different regions of Russia, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic and Germany, the book offers answers to the most pressing questions for today’s business community:

-       How is our world changing under the influence of digital technology?

-       What threats and opportunities does digitalization bring?

-       What are realities and prospects of digitalization in the context of business practice?

-       How should the legal environment of the economy be transformed in the context of digitalization?

The conclusions and recommendations presented are not recipes for solving the existing economic problems, but instead are intended for use in further research on transformation processes in the economy and in the development of state economic policies in various countries and regions.

This book is based on research from Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Switzerland and the Czech Republic on issues related to knowledge-based economy development. The idea for this book was developed during three international conferences on digitalization: VI, VII and VIII International Scientific Weeks, organized by Samara State University of Economics (Samara, Russia) in 2018–2020. It is an initiative by the scientific and business organizations in the Samara Region and their Russian and international partners to analyze the current digitalization of social-economic systems, the problems and perspectives of this process, and its role in the creation and development of a new type of economy and new quality of human capital. 

All the contributions focus on the search for effective ways of adapting to the new digital reality and are based analyses of international statistics, and data from specific companies, educational institutions and governmental development programs.

This book presents the outcomes of the annual “Engineering Economics Week – 2020,” organized by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Institute of Management and the Institute of Market Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), the South-Russian State Polytechnic University and Samara State University of Economics, and held in online format in May 2020. Focusing on the following topics: 

-              state support for the real sector of the economy;

-              decisions in production and project management in the context of the digital economy;

-              big data and big challenges in production networks and systems ; and

-              economic and social aspects of the innovation management: decision-making and control

This proceedings book contains papers presented at the XI International Online Forum named after A.Ya. Kibanov “Innovative Personnel Management,”, which took place in Moscow, Russian Federation, 15th April–5th May 2020. Organized by Moscow State University of Management, the Forum chiefly focused on HR management issues under conditions of active penetration of IT into the management and economic sphere. The authors of contributions included in this book examine both the theoretical basis for the development of the labor landscape in our digital future, and specific practical issues related to the real business practice.

The book includes results of multidisciplinary studies on the following issues: employment and the labor market: a future perspective; current trends of HR management development in digital conditions; IT for creating healthy work conditions; digital transformation and new architecture of the labor market; innovative, strategic HR management and HR analytics; leadership, etc.

The book consists of six parts corresponding to thematic areas of the Forum. The first part deals with the transformation of the labor market under the influence of digitalization and international economic relations. The second part is devoted to the analysis of the current changes in the HR management caused by digitalization, as well as issues of creating a healthy work environment and managing well-being with information technology. New architecture of the labor market is considered in the third part of the book in the face of the global uncertainty and the application of digital technology in entrepreneurial activities. The fourth part investigates innovative approaches to the personnel development: from resource management to capacity management. The fifth part presents strategic HR management and HR analytics in the context of current macro-calls. And finally, the sixth part is aimed at considering leadership aspects and relations between investmentsin the human capital and needed business results.

This book is a combination of different scientific opinions and research works of scholars from different countries and regions, offering us a colorful picture of the future labor landscape: jobs, competences and skills that will be in demand.

This book contains contributions from an international scientific conference, “Smart Nations: Global Trends In The Digital Economy”, which was organized by the State University of Management (Moscow).
