Throughout history, we have exalted and theologised about men like Adam or David to the point where we have become oblivious to the fact that they are far from perfect role models for Christian manhood. Failing to read scripture properly, we have used it to shape a distorted understanding of masculinity.Stretching from issues of violence, emotional and sexual abuse, the desire for power, homophobia, and the suppression of emotions, Will Moore draws from scholarship, personal stories, and popular culture to offer an honest and accessible insight into the toxic myths which frame how w e read scripture. Only when we expose these myths, he argues, can we start to see the authentic men staring straight back at us from the pages of our bibles, and be able to reshape the way in which we produce Christian men today, tackling the violence that is being done by men to themselves and others.

This book is an edited selection of the papers presented at the International Workshop on VLSI for Artiflcial Intelligence which was held at the University of Oxford in July 1988. For the time being these architectures have to be implemented in VLSI technology with its inherent constraints on speed, connectivity, fabrication yield and power. This in turn impacts on the effectiveness of the computer architecture.

Uncovering forgotten stories of the national monuments of the American SouthwestThis volume uncovers the little-known legacy of Frank Pinkley, the first superintendent of the Southwestern National Monuments (SWNM)—a unique National Park Service unit established in 1923. Pinkley’s leadership and innovative approach helped protect and develop thirty diverse monuments, ranging from Montezuma Castle to White Sands, linked by miles of rough roads and united by their historical, archaeological, and natural significance.  Drawing on archived SWNM Monthly Reports, Will Moore reconstructs the stories behind these monuments and their contributions to the nascent national park system. From the pioneering all-Navajo Mobile Unit of the Civilian Conservation Corps to visionary work in visitor education, Pinkley and his team helped to set a course for the protection of American landscapes.
